  • Ver 1.0.2 is updated.

    • Added 'Retry' & 'Menu' button on game over screen. (your fail screen)
    • Animated 'Done' button (so that people won't think it's just a pop-up message)
    • slightly faster critic judging process. (less pausing moments)

It's also very nice to give comments from the game site. If you like the game, rate it positively, I desperately need a good start, thank you!

your game is absolutely awesome! I think that main challenge is the judge system....

pinellos Glad you like it. If you don't like how the critics are treating you, you can choke them with salts & peppers!

  • I just learned something about my game , some trivia part that costed people to leave the game earlier.

After a few days the game release, I watched the play counts (it's about 100) yet only 7~9 people ever win 1 round or more. This is quite alarming. That means most people can't get a 'pass' first time then stopped playing. I'm not going to change difficulty because the first pass is not even hard.

Since 'first fails are very common' on my type of game, I soon realized that No 'retry' button after game over could be my design flaw. I never thought that might affect the players that much, without me considering this game relies heavily on personal instincts & 'fails at first try' are very common.

Already ver 1.0.1, I will add this 'Retry' function as soon as I can. I'm pretty sure that can help a lot.

  • Although it's not my type of game it was fun!

The graphics are outstanding und the whole game is made very well!

    Thanks for your positive comments!

  • Game is good, but I personally think the shadows are too dark.

    Keep up the good work!

  • It's official: Release Version is out! Click Here to play the game.

  • Wonderful art style& animation. Also love the trailer. The game looked very pro!

It's an interesting concept telling the story through her instead of just gameplay.

    • Current: Pre-Release ver0.98
    • 'Kongregate Basic Integration' done
    • Added 'Thanksgiving Launch' pic at the opening
    • Doing everything I can for the rest

Some new additions : new Sound effects & 'Thanksgiving Launch' pic.

Also re-tweaked Kitchen music track to a bit more 'mellow' flute sound.

I've done a lot of small glitch fixes in the past few days.

On the judging sequence, there's still many possible way to trigger the 'bypass' (which I can't find the source). At least it doesn't freeze the game like it used to so frequently. Even the 'bypass' is present, there's still possible 'game freeze' situations due to my coding.

I will continue to work on that.

I am currently test-run the game privately on my site, and will also on Kongregate to make sure everything's working. I consider the possibility of sudden errors & incompatibilities, then I'll need enough time to fix. (things can happen)

    Game Optimization

Sorry to say but honestly, this game still plays badly on mobile devices (I used my cheap tablet & it only plays 3~15 fps) I tried closing 'collisions' off to most sprites... but no signs of framerate rise. Then I realized i have 10~15 layers on most scenes & over 200 objects on screen (from debugger). Can't do anything on them-- they're essential.

It's BEST to play the game on computer, for now. (still I will find a way to improve fps)

Some also will have to be implemented on future update (ver1.1).

    • A bunch of 'overcooked' omelette sprites I don't like but don't have time to fix.
    • More diverse critiques (also open up some new criterias)

More will be added in further details. (after release)

And also the game trailer. (probably will release out with ver1.1)

p/s: I turned Mozart's 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' into a remix for my trailer music. sorry Mozart.

3 days to the thanksgiving l(a)unch!

  • I think the oldest for me is the DOS Game 'Alley Cat'. I played it several times from big cousin's 486 computer.

First you have to learn how to jump & avoid that bulldog. (& others) You have to get into the window for the mini games... Everything is so cute & silly.

The game design is quite unique. Colors are striking and that's part of the charm. (i think it has only 8 colors) It has those little cat animations: fast walking, swimming, being swept by broom & comical sound FXs that makes the game so lively! The opening music is so memorable!

I definitely love sim games. (old-time PC gamer here) I don't play many but these are the ones I loved:

    1) The Sims 1 (so endearing, had played for many years)

    2) Restaurant Empire (fun business management & also love the cuisines)

    3) Plague Inc. Evolved (most fun watching the number drops)

    4) The Sims 2 (also years of fun)

    5) Need for Speed: Porche Unlimited (this one feels more "sim" & classy than other NFS titles)

  • undeadbobop Hi again! I'm facing some problems using your current plugin. (My C2 version is: Release 233)

Sorry I didn't find out at first. (I don't know why it worked the first time... maybe using your 'DBOP' condition in only 1 event for test )

Now adding more days to set, they refuse to work when I give a test run. (By the way I'm using Chrome)

Chrome gives a popup-error screen & the game stop showing.

What's "dale is not defined?" Is that a typo?

I checked my code. If 'today' is not the same as the date set, it's fine.

Here's the screehshot. (in this example, 'today' is 18)

I found out a few settings can also cause similar pop-up errors.

1)The error can still happen even disabled the lines

    2) If I use 'Invert' in the conditions, it'll go error.

    (don't mind the typo)

These are my findings so far.

If you can fix it I'll be so grateful, thanks!

  • tallenwebdev That's fine by me. I understand the idea.

For another suggestion (pardon me), maybe improving on the cat's sprite animations? (from the game footage the cat looks kinda live-less to me) Other than that it's pretty much solid.

    Good luck with your game!

    • Current: Pre-Release ver0.95
    • 'BG Retouch' done
    • 'Fix EggLook Sprites' done
    • 'More Stats & Options' done ('WebGL effects' added)
    • Added 'Bypass' function against game-freezing on judging sequence
    • Working on missing 'taste' critiques

A new option 'webGL Effects', for the some "bloom" effects.

These graphic enhancements are basically blur & glow. I use the effects subtle-ly, only on main menu, 'egg-look' screen, 'record' screen and the flame & smoke on the 'fry zone'& 'topping area'.

However, Beware that it could heavily impact framerates on a weak GPU in computers/mobile devices. (also the effect may not work properly on some browsers like Internet Explorer etc.)

Here's a short video I made recently in YouTube. (a sneak peek of gameplay footage)

I haven't been working on the trailer lately, but it will be done eventually.

    9 days left!

  • I love how you use those effects & visual transitions through out the game, makes the game more lively. Very nice. Also, good music & 8-bit sound effects.

I felt like i'm playing those rage-quit platformer games (in a good way). But one thing: it's kinda frustrating when the character got bounced back if you hit a wall. (I know it's intentional, but still...) I kept dying on level 13.

Maybe making the jump more controllable will make it more enjoyable? like quick tap for short jump, longer tap for longer jump etc. Or double tap to change directions? (just an idea)
