• Yeah, I just came back to this thread to say I figured it out. Typical it's something so simple that got overlooked!

  • Hi!

I am experiencing a rather odd problem that I think might be a bug when having a project that was started on an earlier version of construct 2, and then transitioning to the latest one since I can't re-create this problem on a fresh new project. Bear in mind, the version I started with wasn't a really old one (maybe one or two versions ago), but I don't remember exactly which it was.

I was trying to create a text object and placing it on the layout and set the text. This wasn't a problem before I updated my copy of construct 2 as it showed up perfectly, but now it suddenly wont work in my project. It does create a new text object, because in debug mode, it shows that the object is there, that it's visible and what it's text is set to. It just wont show up on the layout when I run the game.

Here's what it looks like in debug:

Now, when I was trying to figure out what the problem was and was testing different things, I was able to discover that the text object wont show any text when I try to set the text to a random number with random(). So when I set the text to for example:

"random: " & random(1,10)[/code:z0f5smw6] it will not show any text at all. But if I just set the text to: "random" it will show up. If I try to do this in a new project though, the first one (random: " & random(1,10)) works just fine.

I can't see how I could have coded my project in some way that will make the text object unable to set the text like that, so I don't feel like I have made any event that is causing this behavior, but maybe I'm wrong.

Don't know if it can be fixed if it is a bug, maybe someone could look into this or have any suggestions on what the problem could be?

  • I was just looking for that too. I found it under "Your Seller Account" -> Home -> Edit (your product) -> in the top table it says "videos". Click the "0" and there you can upload videos.

  • I was thinking that too would be a fitting one, but it states when you choose it: "Tools are software programs which are related to game development. " and it seems like it would be pretty strict with that looking at the things available under that category.

I went with "Sprites" under the section "Graphics" since I just checked and was able to spot some people having .ai files under that category as well.

  • Hi.

I just recently finished a game character making "tool" which is an illustrator .ai file which I would like to sell at the Scirra store, but I'm unsure what category I should put it in. It doesn't really qualify as a tool right? But would it qualify as "Sprites"? It's just the illustrator file.

    Anybody know perhaps?

  • Hello!

I haven't found anywhere anyone mentioning a problem I've been having.

I'm making a 2-player game. I have it set up so the first player who joins the room is the master and is assigned player 1 sprite.

The second one joining is player 2 and gets the player 2 sprite.

Now, I have the syncing done and working, so when one player moves, the movement shows on the other players screen.

If player 2 leaves, he can come back and get assigned the player 2 sprite again, which works just fine.

But the problem is, his sprite's position needs to be of where he last left of.

Since the master actor has the information of where player 2 is located since he is still in the room, I'm wondering how I could code it so Player 2 can "ask" for this information so he can be positioned correctly.

I appreciate any help I can get.

can you help me please give me a little instructions?

Not sure if you still need help with this, but I just made a tutorial you can check here: https://www.scirra.com/tutorials/9617/c ... or-windows

  • Hi!

I've been trying to create a setup file from exported nw.js files, but with no luck, and I haven't been able to find a tutorial on it. I tried the inno setup one, but it refuses to work for me, and i just get an error message. Someone else had the same problem in the forums, and they got recommended to use installforge instead, but I'm not sure I'm using it correctly as I can't get it to work either.

Those of you who usually use installforge, could you perhaps write instructions down on how to use it with the nw.js files?

    Thanks.

  • Hi!

I did some searching but couldn't find anyone else that have posted about this.

I have a layer with a dropdown list as well as a slider bar, and then a layer over that with a solid color sprite that has 50% opacity that covers the whole layout, so that anything underneath its layer is blacked out a bit.

Both the slider and dropdown list seem to show through the overlapping layer though, as if it's not affected by the overlapping color. Why is that and is there a fix for it?

  • Ah, I see now. Thanks!

  • Hi!

I'm trying to set a variable whenever a textbox is being clicked on, but no matter what I do to detect the click, the actions in the event will not fire.

But, it will detect whenever the mouse DOESN'T click on the textbox, and when it hovers over it.

I've tried this on both latest stable version, and latest beta version.

    Here's what I've tried:

On left button clicked on -> TextBox : DOESN'T fire

(I left click on the textbox)

    On left button clicked

Cursor is over -> TextBox : DOESN'T fire

(I hover over the textbox and left click)

Cursor is over -> TextBox : DOES fire

    (I hover over the textbox)

    On left button clicked

Cursor is NOT over -> TextBox : DOES fire

(I have my cursor outside of the textbox and left click)'

    Left button is down

Cursor is over -> TextBox : DOESN'T fire

(I hover over the textbox and left click)

I also tried putting conditions in different orders, that didn't work either, and I've tried disabling any other events but these to see if something is conflicting, but it didn't work either.

If someone else could try this and see if they can replicate the problem, then I know it's not just mine that's doing this.

It's just weird that it can detect when it's not being clicked on, but not when it is.
