    EDIT:

Also, it seems that the GUI objects all render in front of everything else. I added a sprite, and the sprite was hidden by the GUI, even when I put the sprite on a layer above the GUI. I don't know if this is fixable, but this was one of the main complaints about the Windows control objects.

Ok, that's not good at all. If I can't resolve this, my plugin is useless...

I believe that should be your first priority. GO GO GO.

  • A couple of bugs:

    http://www.box.net/shared/v30d6hv4ku

(put the .cap in the same folder as the original demo .cap)

It seems that when you add a sprite to the layout, it's not that the sprite is rendering behind the GUI, but that the sprite isn't rendering at all. I resized the GUI so that you should be able to see the sprite, but it's not there.

Also, run the .cap and hold down the right arrow to move the (invisible) sprite. When the screen scrolls to follow the sprite, the GUI disappears. This doesn't happen when the GUI layer is set to 0% scroll rate.

And there's some minor visual bugs in the layout that you're probably already aware of. When you click anywhere in the object panel, in the layout, on a layer, or on a scrollbar, the animation on the GUI object jumps ahead. This also happens when hitting any key on the keyboard. And scrolling the layout causes the background image of the GUI to squish and stretch, both horizontally and vertically.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Good news, I've made some progress

[quote:19hie3iy]But the fonts don't work anymore

Ok, fonts are ok now. I have to do some cleaning and reduce the amount of "hack" I used to build this

  • But the fonts don't work anymore

Of course they don't. That would be too easy

  • Ok, I've tested your example, and It worked!

I will publish a new version shortly, as soon as I've corrected some strange glitches...

  • Just wanted to post my support for this, looks like a new useful plugin under construction I'm working on a GUI heavy game, so this would probably come in handy.

So yeah... can't really help, but good job!

  • Thanks for the support, it always helps

  • I really hope you can get this to work reliably. It would be such a useful and time-saving extension to Construct.

  • I have a small question about MyGUI integration.

There is 2 manners to integrate it:

    • directly in csx file with the sources (as now)
    • using an external dll, which implies that games using CGUI must include MyGUI.dll.

    What do you prefer?

So it's having a bigger .exe against taking care of distributing externals with the game? I'd prefer a bigger .exe, there's already python and lucid's liquids. The less extrenal dependencies the better, from my point of view.

  • I agree too, so I'll keep it like that.

  • Why not make both available?

Question is, will we have to have anything else loaded from an external source?

Like the media folder, xml, etc.

We do have the Resource plugin that could handle externals.

  • I cannot get this to run, i have updated the Input System plugin also and that works great. The error given is -

Error loading E:\Program Files\Scirra\Construct\Plugins\CGUI.csx (126) - this plugin may not be available!

My guess to the reason why is because my default drive is not C:\ and this is using some sort of required location. All other addon objects i have tried seem to work fine also so if that is not the reason i have no idea why else it would be.

  • Why not make both available?

Why not, but I will have to manage two different plugins, with risks and problems of synchronisation.

MyGUI has a complete resources management. My idea is to let it as it is and to add a bridge between Construct and MyGUI, e.g. import Construct objects like Sprite.

Hum, strange error. CGUI plugin is built the same way as Input System and I don't think the drive is the reason. Have you verified that the plugins is correctly installed (beware of the runtime/edittime mixup)?
