I think you call it after you've switched to the walking animation...not sure though =S I've not seen people use the sub-animations often at all =[

Just so you're aware, I read in another old thread that sub-anims can be problematic, and the only way some people got them to work was to first set the parent anim, then set the sub-anim. To be honest, there are easier ways than this :)
