[Sprite] Show only part of a sprite

Hello everyone,

I'm doing some work on the dialogue and menu systems and would like to show some portraits.

I have full body sprites for the heroes/npcs and would like to only show the top 50px of those sprites for dialogue and menus. Not sure if this is possible - even programatically?

I know I can accomplish this by creating a separate animation but trying to avoid it at this point.

You could use Blend modes, check out the "source" and "destination".

Though truth be told, I think just cropping out the heads would be quicker / less things to deal with. You could even just crop them out in Construct 3's animation editor.

Also try using a tiled background object instead of a sprite object.

I would paste the portion you want to show on a drawing canvas and use that in the dialog system.

You can also load the canvas into a blank frame of a sprite and then use that sprite.
