The replica option does not appear

I am trying to use the template/replica options, I am following the instructions in the manual. I create an instance of a Sprite and assign it template mode with a name. Then I create a new sprite and the replica option does not appear in the drop-down menu, the only two options available are (none/template). Can someone help me understand what my mistake is? In your example the green square can not be set to be a replica because there aren't any other instances of the same object type which are set to be templates.

You would need to add another instance of the blue square and that one would be able to be set to be a replica.
