how do i do ray casting/ ray tracing i really want to make a fps so this would be nice to know

please if you know how can you help me i have been wanting to do this for a while idk know the difference between ray tracing and ray casting i just basically want a 3d game

Reverse engineering that would probably be the best way to understand it.
