__________ Top down rail track mega pack __________
  • Hey there, I'm currently learning Construct 3 and have built a very basic level to explore jump forgiveness and a simple water canon (using particles) style effect.

I'm noticing FPS drops (and associated stuttering) that appear related to player movement (i.e. when moving and jumping around), but I can't track down where it's coming from. I've systematically disabled every bit of logic in the Event Sheets and still notice frame drops (60 down to 49/50).

The main GFX load is on the Water layer which has an Alpha Clamp effect and an Additive blend mode but neither the GFX or CPU load are over 2%.

I've attached my c3p file here if anyone has any ideas?

  • I don't see any drop in performance. Getting constant 144 fps and cpu/gpu utilization under 2%.

Can you try a different browser?

  • Hey, thanks for taking a look. I've tried in Chrome, an unused Edge and a new install of Firefox. On Firefox the debug tools don't report a drop in frames but I still notice a jerkiness when moving around.

I'm wondering if the jerking is maybe something related to the interpolation on the camera rather than FPS. I've tried changing that formula a few times, also tried using a Pin to an object with Scroll-To rather than using scroll directly - these didn't seem to help.

Here's a screen recording that shows the jerkiness with debug on. In Chrome you can see frame drops around the visual issues but Firefox shows a consistent 60fps.

  • I tried on MacOS and no issues. Tracked it down to an issue with AMD + Nvidia + Chrome. It was resolved in a newer driver.

    Thanks for the help :)
