How do I make a flip card effect?

I have been searching for a way to make a flip card effect but I cant. The only way I have found i this scirra.com/tutorials/277/3d-card-flip-effect but it does no work o me because in this way I have to create a sprite for each card on the deck and I need/want to use only one design and change the text and/or image.
