  • Woke up one morning to try working on my project... and only to come to this.

I tried converting the project into a Construct 3 project, I opened it in Visual Studio, I reloaded and compressed the project over and over again, opened it on different computers, there is something very wrong with the event sheet.

It started when I imported new audio files to my project, but I have not actually made any coding... I just imported audio to my project, and this one single bug that has LITERALLY NOTHING to do with what just occured, just occured.

This project is over 8 months in the making, and I'm doing my best to keep myself composed... I'm wanting to see if it might be possible to fix this.

I've tried replicating the bug in an older build, but nothing has happened at all. So, for whatever reason it's something wrong with this version.

I'm wondering if it might be possible to fix this bug so I can be sure to get back to work ASAP.

Here's the link to the project file, any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • You can try fixing it yourself - rename the project to ZIP and extract all files. Edit (Player events).xml using Notepad++ or a similar tool.

Scroll to line 111751 and you will see that the xml formatting is broken there.

I tried removing the entire event block. The project loads, but then Construct 2 editor crashes as soon as I try to click anything.

I was actually able to open the project (after those edits) in Construct 3. I strongly suggest you switch to Construct 3 - it's much more advanced and stable than C2, and you will be able to receive support if anything like this happens to your project again.

And of course, with the project this big you need to set up automatic back-ups!

  • You know what? I think you're right. I think it might just be about high time I got myself an upgrade.

I'll always love Construct 2, but since I'm making games full-time now... could probably use the extra oompf to my project/

  • I have finally gotten the money for it, so I think I'll make the switch sometime later this week. I thank you for all the help.

If I may though, I'd like to recieve a build of the fixed version of the game I've been working on so that I can start from there. I'll definetely keep this fix in mind though.

Thank you for all the help, I'd lose about 8 months of work if not for you.

  • I already deleted the project, it was over 500MB! If you remove the event block from the xml file (see the screenshot above), you should be able to open the project in C3.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Alright, thanks for all the help nonetheless. I guess this is the part where I upgrade now.

  • UPDATE: Alright, it's worked flawlessly. I don't regret getting the upgrade.

Thanks for all the help, I would have lost 8+ months' worth of work if not for the advice. Now it's about time I get back to work.
