  • Dear Construct Team,

Belarus has a significantly lower GNI per capita than Russia and Kazakhstan, yet the price of Construct 3 in Belarus is nearly 1.5–2 times higher than in these countries. This contradicts the logic of regional pricing, where prices should be lower in countries with lower income levels. For now this is not a fair price. And it can be called prohibitive and stimulating the use of pirated versions of the engine. This is slightly less than a third of the median monthly salary!

In Belarus, the price of Construct 3 represents 1.49% of GNI per capita (107.30/7,210 * 100).

    For comparison:

    In Russia: 0.55% (69.78/12,750 * 100).

    In Kazakhstan: 0.62% (59.31/9,620 * 100).

    In Ukraine: 0.83% (35.48/4,260 * 100).

Is it possible to set the price at a level comparable to other countries in the region so that it complies with the principles of fair regional pricing?

  • You’re right, this does look off. I’ll review this on Monday.

  • and the fact that in Turkey the salary is 3 times higher than in Russia does not bother anyone? my mother receives a pension of 150$ even though she worked for 40 years, and salaries in Russia are 300$-400$

  • how can I pay for a service from Russia now? I used a foreign US card because we have such a service for paying for different services because the country is still under sanctions, because of my poverty, yes, I chose the country Turkey and paid at Turkish prices, today my account was disabled, what should I do?

  • Looks like anyone from Russia will now have to switch to the godot4 engine

  • Deactivating the accounts of Russian developers is quite harsh. It’s not their fault that they are under sanctions and have to pay for a C3 license through other countries.

A fair solution would be to adjust the license expiry based on the amount paid.

  • Moreover, the audience who uses construct 3 in Russia is people under 18 years old, they are not at all affected by the political situation in the country

  • So what should I do?? I can't pay from Russia. Using a US card at US rates is too expensive for me.

  • Looks like anyone from Russia will now have to switch to the godot4 engine

Godot requires learning traditional programming, while GDevelop does not. Therefore, if you choose from game engines with visual programming, then it's either Construct 3 or GDevelop. GDevelop is similar to Construct 3, but it is slow to load for web games. Construct 3 is as fast as lightning.

  • Let me clear up some misconceptions here.

We've never stopped anyone from Russia buying from us, however our position has been we ourselves will not offer alternative payment methods. This is detailed here and was posted back in 2022:

    construct.net/en/ukraine

dkgamedev2, we've recently implemented a system for extra checks on plans. It seems you have been flagged by this system because you've been purchasing our Turkish plans even though it's clear from your usage you are not eligible to purchase these plans and have misrepresented your billing address. We are aware of some guides in Telegram and other Russian communities specifically showing users how to purchase plans from other countries (specifically Türkiye) to save money. This is now now longer possible.

You are welcome to purchase a plan if you have a payment card that works, but if you continue to misrepresent your billing address your plan will be suspended until the difference is paid.

Deactivating the accounts of Russian developers is quite harsh. It’s not their fault that they are under sanctions and have to pay for a C3 license through other countries.

For clarity, we're not de-activating Russian accounts because they are Russian, we are deactivating the plans that have wilfully misrepresented their billing region (mainly Türkiye, Nigeria and Ethiopia) to save money. We send warning emails before hand, and we give ample opportunity to pay the difference and continue using the plan but many choose not to.

  • So what should I do?? I can't pay from Russia. Using a US card at US rates is too expensive for me.

Just to be clear, if you have an international card that works, you simply need to enter your actual billing address, then there will be no problems with your plan.

If we see a US card buying a plan in Ethiopia, with heavy usage in Russia, it's going to flag your plan up in our system and we'd want to see evidence you do actually live in Ethiopia.

  • Thanks, Tom. I understand Scirra's position, but I also see why people who are forced to use shady third-party services to pay for a C3 license might choose cheaper regions.

What about this suggestion — would it be possible?

For example, if someone paid for a year using Ethiopian pricing, which is 50% cheaper than the Russian rate, their license could be reduced to six months.

  • now everything is clear thanks for the explanation

  • You’re right, this does look off. I’ll review this on Monday.

Is there any solution to this issue?

  • Not yet, I will update when I have news.
