  • I uploaded a C3 project to my server, works great for everyone except Chromebook users. Error Below

I opened my Chromebook, so I know that the OS is updated. The browser is updated. I Googled the issue and the problem doesn't seem to be an update issue, it's some option.

Apparently the Chrome browser has changed and the options for the fix are no longer available. (SYSTEM and ADVANCED have been removed from settings - and every solution tells you to go to Advanced and then System.)

So what do I need to update? It works on every other OS, but not a Chromebook.

This is the link to the game, it's actually a comic book: keeperbay.com/RealmScannerGraphicNovel

And it isn't only that game, nearly every C3 game I create where I upload the html to my server will give that error.

How do I fix this please?

    ERROR:

    Software update needed

This content is not supported because your device's software appears to be out-of-date. Try installing any available software updates. Alternatively try on a different device.

    Missing features: WebGL

    User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS aarch64 15117.87.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/107.0.0.0 Safari/537.36

  • The error message is saying WebGL isn't supported. All modern devices should support it and Chromebooks definitely support it out-of-the-box.

I didn't think browsers provided an option to switch off WebGL. Perhaps there's a 'hardware acceleration' option that was turned off and needs turning back on? Or maybe there is a fault with the device's graphics driver that has caused WebGL to be switched off.

  • Ashley,

Thank you, that gives me a good place to start.

I'll update if I find the answer.

    Thanks.

  • UPDATE!

After weeks of searching and testing, I've come to the conclusion that there is no Chrome Fix. The problem is Chrome Browser.

FireFox and Opera work fine use those.

If anyone has this issue in the future, save yourself the headache, switch to a different browser.
