Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
  • Hi everyone,

I started in the world of 2D game creation with Construct 2 that I knew less than a month ago and I started learning about video tutorials like this one: youtube.com/watch

But I discovered today that Construct 3 was released.

As a freelance webmaster, I would like to make games to publish them on the Playstore and make sales to my creations (for example with advertising on the games or another way if you have idea).

Could you advise me on Construct 3 is a great way to learn to get started in creating games and whether I can create nice games or there's any limit of the program ?

If I buy the "personnal licence" version at 90 € per year would be ok for me to earn money with my creations ?

It's possible to transfer projects made on Construct 2 to the new Construct 3 platform ?

I think it's better for me to start learning about Construct 3 than version 2.

I found a tuto about Udemy here that might be good to start with for me: udemy.com/construct-3

    Thank you for your feedback

    Kind regards

  • I'm starting from your "personal license" question:

    1. Yes, you are allowed to use personal for commercial games/earning money as long as you're not a business

    2. Yes, not all projects can be transferred as it depends on plugins being available for Construct 3

    3. There's no difference in the runtime and minimal differences in the editor right now. Learning Construct 2 is fine if you don't want to pay a yearly subscription.

That said, editing from any browser is pretty sweet.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Thanks for your advice

Working on browser with contruct 3 is fine but it has no other advantage compare to construct 2 (performance level or new functionality) ?

I was blocked on the tuto youtube because i can't have more than 4 layout on the free version and i hesitate to buy construct or v2 or v3 to progress.

I also see that others compare Construct with Game Maker or Unity but i think in GameMaker/Unity you have to know how to code and not on Construct, is true ?

  • Right now the only advantage I see in Construct 3 is a better method of building for mobile phones. Everything else is exactly the same at runtime (C2 has more plugins right now too)

I think we will have to wait until the new C3 runtime appears, to see any tangible difference.

I have C2 & C3, and still prefer to use C2 to prototype.

  • Ok thanks

I think I will continue to use C2 also while waiting for C3 to evolve over time

  • If you're a beginner and already using C2, then I would stick with that since it may take you a couple years to fully grasp all the nuances to construct and to develop an understanding of how to make games, etc. You might spend a few months on a project and then spend several months not even using construct. C2 allows you to work at your own pace without feeling like you are wasting money if you aren't using it. That's why I think C3's subscription based approach is less friendly to beginners. C3 is more suited to experienced and committed devs, in my opinion.

  • Thanks Prominent

I think is true, it's more easy for me to continue to work with C2 and why i was ready i will see if i go to C3.

So i have buy with black friday a video udemy at 10 €.

When i have create my first game I hope I can show you here

  • C3 is awesome. The fact you can work with in in the browser, is just awesome. Once it officially goes out of beta, it will be the best engine out there. Even now it's simply awesome.

  • I wanted to know if i buy C2 (personal license) to 99 € and I wish later to use C3 (personnal license), i'is necessary to pay a subscription to 89,90 € per year to use C3 ?

There is no discount for those who have already bought ?

With each new version you have to pay back ?

  • I think if you own C2, then you'll get 50% off your first year of C3 whenever you choose to start using C3. That discount offer never expires as far as I know.

Every year afterwards, you'll have to pay full price each year.

  • Ah ok, it's nice for start

    Thanks
