Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
  • So is Construct 3 still HTML/Javascript Based. Someone had said it outputs in the different game engines language. Like native android and ios and windows, and you don't need plugins and phonegap or cocoon.io(dead) or apk signing or all those little nonsense tools. Which at one point I thought I was pretty awesome because I learned to use all those things. I have one app on Windows Store and 6 on Google play. I mean me IRL I don't know anybody that has ever published any app anywhere.

My question Is Construct 3 really Magic like they say?

    honestly.

  • Let's put it this way, i assume by now you know the pros and cons of C2.

C3 has some of the cons of C2 solved.

There are a few cons on C3 but none new from comparing it with C2 as far as i experienced.

There is a built in android wrapping system and signing certificate. I don't know for the other platforms, NW.js mac/windows/linux platforms is similar to the C2 i think, and admob ads plugin.

Performance wise, is a lot faster than C2, when comes to games / apps made and how they perform.

However C3 is still in early days only version 138-2... there is a lot of improvement to be made and addons.

About the language is written in or the js/html5 language that interprets it to wrap things i have no clue, but it worked so far on my end.

So yea i'd recommend the upgrade.

Edit: there are a bunch of other little features that C2 doesn't have like animation onion skin allows you to see the last frame you drawn so you can guide the next one if you want to make animations in the C3 animation editor, the text files, js files that you import in the project are can be edited and read in a C3 editor ... means no more editing the additional files with notepad then reimport it inside the project.

And a lot more features that i wanted C2 to have way before C3 started like the new Z Elevation, Record Canvas, and many other cool little stuff.

Now when it comes to plugins, the old C2 plugins some are compatible with C3 but only for the C3 >> C2_Runtime.

The C2_Runtime is the same engine that powers C2. C3_runtime is the new version of the engine that runs way faster, so if you have a old C2 capx file you want to edit in C3 and like still use C3 as C2 but wanna wrap it with the android export u can do that.

If you are using C2 plugins though, you might need to convert them with C2 to C3 plugin convertor before adding the projects inside C3... i didn't done that yet, i have both versions but i don't use custom plugins unless im making some 3d stuff where i use the C2 Q3D plugin(some custom webgl effect or some of r0j0s plugins). other than that i don't see the need of custom plugins for what im doing, so i never experienced a compatibility issue when i imported a C2 project in C3.

There are other aspects that i might not experienced yet anyone can help out fill in.

But i still back my recommendation, it's worth the upgrade.

Plus if you own C2 then you'd be supporting C3 and better upgrades for the future.

  • Ok this is good news, not that I'm lazy but I have already installed Unity, and to be honest I'm lost. I'm sure it's easy.

I'm hoping to stay with something I'm starting to get down pretty good.

  • Cool Thanks.

Construct 3 is more than Magic I think, based on my experience using C2 and C3.

C2 is powerful enough for creating 2D games but C3 is more than powerful for creating 2D games. Also the dev is very active and we have great community here. I am one of the happy customers using C2 and C3. :)

  • Well I bought it and I don't see any of this.

"There is a built in android wrapping system and signing certificate."

  • construct.net/en/tutorials/building-android-apps-apks-in-construct-3-19

oh ok I must of missed that Android build dropdown. Thanks. I'll look again.

That one reason I bought it.

  • Yeah Welp I totally missed it. Thanks Again.

  • Personally I believe a lot in C3, I didn't even know it some time ago, about 2 months ago, I tried it for a few weeks, time to familiarize myself with it, then I bought it because I like it a lot more, and I still like it a lot, the creator deserves this money, it works very hard, every week, or almost, it comes out a new update, just for that we can only love them !

Of course, I am a little disappointed with the forum, I have the impression that we, the French, are put aside.....

I don't have many answers to some of my questions on the forums, but for the most part, people who have a good level answer me, and I'm very grateful to them, like for example Dop2000 who helped me well, but I have the impression that it's always the same people who help me, that's what bothers me because without them, I probably wouldn't have an answer !

Moreover, personally, I find that some people are rude, no hello, and sometimes not even polite, when a message is posted, we have to be polite, "Hello", "Please", "Thank you", etc..

Afterwards, perhaps the custom here is not to say hello, but at least once a day and per message, I understand that you don't say hello every time you go to talk to a person on the same day, but at least once!

In short, it's not very serious, as long as the people help me, you will tell me:)

In addition I am French, I don't speak English, fortunately there is a great site to translate, the best I know: deepl.com/translator

So sometimes there can be misunderstanding, due to the language barrier!

I have created a French C3 forum, it is all new: construct3fr.forumforever.com/index.php

I intend to fill it out and have a community.....

  • Are you sure you don't speak English, that is the best translation I've ever seen. With the exception for a couple words. It's a debate whether saying thanks is protocol or not at least on the first post. Like saying "thanks in advance" the thought is you shouldn't do it. I used to do that.

Well I just go C3 and it feels the same to me I looked at the behaviors and the insert object feels the same. I know it runs better. I was hoping it would do more of the work for me.lol For example, Like making all the images takes most time for me as far as my new projects go. And of course I don't know all the advanced stuff but really I find Construct fast and fun to build with once you understand some things. For Me in everything I do I find my self typing in numbers a lot for resizing things and positions etc..

I wish you good luck with the French Forum.
