  • Hi everyone, hi Ashley ,

I have serious troubles with Construct 3. It simply doesn't work offline. This is a major problem for me as I work a lot in the train (just today it's 4 hours) with obviously no internet connection.

Here is what happens: The desktop build (R106) that I mostly use simply never launches. As soon as I have an internet connection, it works.

I also tried the browser version. The editor launches, but if I'm offline I am always automatically disconnected, with no option to log in, as you guessed... So I'm stuck with the free version. :( If I relaunch the editor while being online, I am correctly connected with my account.

I would really appreciate to know how I can make C3 to work offline, as advertised. Maybe that's something wrong with my computer if it works for everyone else?

    Thanks in advance!

  • The beta desktop build currently does not work offline, only the stable desktop build does.

The browser should work fine offline with any release, providing you visit the URL directly and you've loaded that version before. You should also be able to use your account for up to 7 days while offline, provided you were recently logged in while online.

  • Ah, thanks for the info about the beta desktop build. I'll stick with the stable version after the next stable release.

However, if I load the editor in Chrome then disconnect from wifi then reload the page, I can confirm I am automatically logged out and thus I can only use the free version.

  • Ergh, looks like you're right, it must've broken at some point. Filed an issue: github.com/Scirra/Construct-3-bugs/issues/1721

  • Actually it looks like I was just testing with a license past its expiry date (I have that setup for testing purposes). If your subscription is active, you should be able to use it offline. I just tested it with an active subscription and it worked. Are you sure you are up-to-date with payments on your subscription? If you're behind then you cannot use Construct 3 offline.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm 100% sure my license is still active as I registered just 1 or 2 weeks ago.

I retested it today, and after failing to log in while offline a couple times, it seems to work every time now.

I do believe the editor was already loaded though, but maybe there has been some problem with my computer. Thanks for the quick reaction, I'll keep you updated if I still have problems with that, but at the moment it seems to work just fine.

  • Sorry for the false good news. I just disconnected the wifi, then restarted my computer, and upon loading C3 in Chrome, I was still unable to load anything but the free version.

Maybe you could check if there is anything wrong with my subscription?

Or maybe it's a problem with my browser configuration. I'm not browsing with incognito mode though. Anyway, it's not a big deal for me as I found a workaround: I just start C3 before losing access to internet, then close my computer without shutting it down. C3 beta desktop build works when I unsleep the computer. I can do that until the next stable desktop build.

I can record a video of my screen to show you exactly what happens if it helps. I didn't try other browsers than Chrome either.

  • Ashley same here i try free version and not work offine

  • To be perfectly clear, the free version works offline for me. It's the full version which doesn't log me in so I'm stuck with the free version when offline.

But it is not working for me
