This Student Workbook uses both Construct 3 & 2 encoding. It supplies client-side & php "back-end" encoding.
  • Hello, I am pretty new to Construct. I recently finished creating my first video game/news app using Construct, which I really love and am excited to continue using in the future.

However, I have one issue now that I have published it online. The audio in my game does not play when you play the game on iPhone. I have an iPhone with iOS 13.6 and I can't figure out any way to get the sound to play on Safari or Chrome. I made it so you have to click to start the music on the first layout of the game and I tried different Javascript scripts that I found posted here and elsewhere about how to potentially make the audio run. But I can't figure out a way to get it to work.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very appreciative as I am very excited to get this game out there into the broader world. Thank you!

  • That happens to me only with some games, but I don't understand it.

  • It looks like the game uses MP3 files for audio. These aren't supported on all platforms. You need to use WebM Opus audio for playback to work on all platforms. If you import WAVs to Construct, it will encode WebM Opus for you. The manual entry for the Import Audio dialog has more details.

  • Hi Ashley, thank you so much for responding and explaining how to address this issue. Swapping the MP3s out for WAV files did the trick and my game now works great on iPhone. Thank you!!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • casac8 I posted a similar question yesterday. Could you please check if audio works after locking/unlocking the phone with the game running in Safari browser? Or after minimizing/restoring the browser.

  • I export my audio files in wav, and the audio doesn't work.
