UPDATE #2: We've added sound, remade boss behavior and added 2 "secret places".
UPDATE #1 : We've added some artwork and animations, level design was changed aswell.
In short: It's a platform game that "simulates" drug effects whenever you touch enemies.
Explaining the game
Hello, we are doing a school project where we were asked to make a game that "solves a problem" and the chosen problem was "The use of Ilicit Drugs". In a metaphorical way we want to show that when you have an objective in your life (finish the game level) you will have unavoidable hard times (platforms) but also avoidable hard times (drugs). You can avoid the drugs by simply dodging them or shouting "NO's" at them to push them away. If you touch them you will receive a debuff (related to the specific drug) that is supposed to hold you back (even the accelerating effects) preventing you from reaching your goal.
High Concept: Overdose is a platform game where the player must, before the time runs out, get through a level with platforms that move horizontally/vertically, break when touched and/or change position. In addition there are 3 types of enemies, shown as drugs, that simulate a corresponding drug effect when "consumed" (touched) and also increase your overdose level. Marijuana slows down, cocaine speeds up and LSD causes a screen distortion. The player can push enemies away shouting "NO's" at them. At the end of the level, in order to win the game, you must destroy a giant mushroom who has the power to invert your controls. Game is lost when the player leaves the layout, when time runs out or when overdose bar gets full.
Feedback (positive or negative) and ideas are welcome.
