Nope. Just dive in. For docs look at the descriptions when adding actions and conditions.

The "paste" action is all you need to know. It draws other objects onto the paster object in mostly the same way as it would draw normally.

All other actions are feature creep.

Yes, check out built-in examples of C2. Press File -> New -> Type: Blend Modes. Don't forget to set "Force own texture" to "Yes" in layer properties.

And you should remember that it won't work fast enough on mobile devices.
