C2 has always struggled with Picking and OR. You can report as a bug, but there others already reporting OR issues. Personally I just avoid OR when picking is involved.

I reported this bug just a few days ago:

In your first event instead of "System->Pick" use "RedSprite->Compare variable" and then the or-block will work correctly.
