How do I detect if 2 objects match

im trying to figure out the best way to do this....

show a button for x seconds.

if the user clicks the button during the time its shown, then action

if the user does not click during the show then action

what the best way to tell if the button has not gotten pressed during the time it was shown?

Set a variable button_thisThing_pressed=0 and change it to 1 when pressed. In the event that hides the button; if button_thisThing_pressed=0 then you know it was never pressed.
