I'm sorry for bumping this thread, I am currently learning how to use Construct 2.

I have a problem, the lightning didn't started from "Shoot" imagepoint.

But, if the player stands at left-most jump-through platform (blue colored) at the upper layout, the lightning starting position is right.

Here is my file. I do copy from ramones's code.

ariaenggar You're spawning the lightning on the background layer so it's affected by that layer's parallax. Set the lightning to spawn on layer 1 (event 26).

I had a go. This isn't actually the effect I was going for but I think it's kind of cool. This is very much a work in progress (messy event sheet) but it might give you ideas.

If you just want a single bolt, disable event 8.

I have been working with your recursive algorithm, its very cool. It has only one big problem, it drops fps drastically =S I tweaked it a little to improve performance but it still drops the fps to 45 in a high end computer.

Its still a nice effect but I havent found a solution to the fps drop =/

You are right, now with the glow effect off it runs smoothly. The glow effect can be archeived with photoshop and an additive layer effect.

Thanks! Anyway, it's Jim Bumgardner's work. I just ported it from actionscript to construct.

Been playing with it for a while and added some forking... Not perfect, but it looks more like lightning now.

What is your spec?

Maxing everything I get 60 FPS and 0.2 CPU utilisation. Setting it to something lifelike, CPU goes down to 0.02 utilisation.
