Collectable objects (coins etc)

Last couple of days ive been trying to get to grips with construct2 (free edition) and learn how to do various things by reading tutorials and viewing samples but I cant figure out how you make an object collectable like coins in mario or rings in sonic.

Can someone show me how to do this please?

I cant find a tutorial on how to do it.

This goes over the basics of what you'll need for most basic games.

To answer your question though, just set up an event for when your character's sprite is overlapping the coin sprite. You can then add to whatever counter you've set up, and have the coin destroyed.

The logic behind collecting thinks is:

Player is overlapping -> Coin Families >> Player -> Variable "Coins" add 1;

Coin -> Destroy;
