How do I achieve an effect like in Fruit Ninja

Hey does anybody have any idea how to create an effect like in Fruit Ninja when slicing the fruits? I would like to have an effect like the one shown in the picture below for an iOS game I am currently working on :)

You can make it with animation frames.

You need 3d animation before the cut and another animation after the cut.

You can see examples with C2 sprite bundle, there are 3d sprites in the file.
