  • Firstly, what would one recommend as the best window size for a project, if I want it to be able to be used by many, embedded on websites, and be a relatively large size.

    Secondly, I read the blog post on the audio formats. Does this mean that, for the foreseeable future, I have no options for audio that is supported by all browser types? If that is the bleak case, what format would I be best off choosing?

    The default 640x480 is a good size for a display that fits on most screen sizes while not being too small.

    Maybe you missed the point of the post. Construct 2 converts all your audio to Vorbis (.ogg) and AAC (.m4a) for you, to get around this issue. (You need Windows 7 to encode .m4a though.) So you need two formats to cover all browsers, but Construct 2 helps you do this.

  • Hmm, 640 x 480 is a bit small for me. Are there any higher resolutions that would be acceptable to gaming websites?

    Conversely, is there a way to 'shrink' what is on screen to make more fit into the same window size.

  • Maybe ask the gaming websites you have in mind about screen sizes, I was just guessing really. You can zoom layers, so if you zoom all layers, you can shrink down the whole display.

    Also, (I doubt there is) but is there an easy way to 'pause' a layer or a section of the game? (e.g. if I want a pause screen or an inventory to come up)

    Action system-Layers => Set scale

    Check the inline help (within the actions window) for use.

  • The zooming works perfectly (And looks nice!)

    However the pausing looks VERY painful. If I just set the game's timescale to zero, some things keep working (like rotation, spawning, etc, etc)

    Does this mean I have to include delta time in all of my expressions?

    Yep, that's the standard. Not including delta time should be considered a mistake.
