  • Hi to all. I tried searching the forum and tutorials, but could not find a definite, up-to date answer on this question:

What are the monetizing options for a Windows Phone 8.1 game for C2 developers?

As far as ads are concerned:

    • pubCenter is out: it can only be used on Windows 8.1 and not Windows Phone 8.1, since Microsoft has no SDK (yet?) for the HTML5/JS project type C2 exports
    • AdMob: is out as well, since the C2 GUI dialog when inserting a new object states that the AdMob object is only for Intel XDK.

I couldn't find any other ad providers that can be used.

Therefore, the only solution for Windows Phone 8.1 developers is to charge for their game and probably use the platform's "Trial mode" to "lure" users to their game?

Are the thoughts correct or have I missed something?

  • Would be nice to have it on WindowsPhone, too. You can create new mobile apps in pubCenter admin panel and I tried to use them in my C2 Project but it does not seem to work. Are they working on it?

have you tryed Admob and XDK? was just wondering because there is an Windows 8 build option in XDK.

  • I did not use Intel XDK yet. Did anyone already use it and does Windows 8 work on Windows Phone? (8.1)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Bl4ckSh33p unfortunately i dont have a windows phone but im building an windows 8 app with XDK at this moment, would you mind trying it and tell me if it works?

edit: what i can say is that building the windows 8 app does take very long time, its still building and it started five minutes ago

this one is build using the "Legacy Hybrid Mobile App Platform" "Windows Phone8" build option: http://fldr.de/Asteroids2014.WindosPhone_Legacy.zip

i guess the Admob ads wont work but thought its worth a try.

the Cordova Windows build failed, i guess because i dont have a valid Windows Publisher or App id.

  • spyros I'm also looking to monetize Windows Phone 8.1 apps through Ads

Did you ever get an answer? It still seems Admob or PubCenter will not work.
