Crash when load C2 r80

Hi, first post (Guillermo from Argentina :)

when i load C2 version r80, it crash and close itself.

but.. if i open an example directly (going to the examples directory) r80 opens fine, until i modify something, but i can execute the example fine.

same issue with r79 :(

win xp 64 bits sp3. 1 GB ram

Have you tried updating your graphics card driver?

Ashley, yes he did, we spoke on IRC during the night.

The start page is causing the crash. It should normally be disabled but apparently, on Guillermo's computer it doesn't work and crash C2.

We tried to make him untick the "Display start page" in preferences, but he said that he couldn't, there was a message stating it was only possible with a licensed version, not in the free version.

It's coded to automatically disable the start page if it crashes on startup. It's odd it doesn't detect it. Is this still present in r80.2?

You can work around the preferences dialog disabling it by manually setting the registry key 'HideStartPage' to the DWORD 1 in:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Scirra\Construct2\Preferences

Does that fix it? If not it must be something else instead of the start page.

i tried updating the driver, doesn't work.

with r80 i had some issues and always crash, so i installed r79.4, it crashes on startup but 'hidestartpage' to 1 fixed that, and i can use it now.

i will read & try the first tutorial now.

after my test with the tutorial, i will try install the last version again and will post here again :)

elguilledigital i had same problem..try opening an example and disable the "start page on startup" under preferences section
