It seems like most people on these forums have robots for their avatars, all in the same art style. I'm just curious, where do those come from?

I think it's the default (randomized) avatar from gravatar. I don't remember actually making one!
A lot of people didn't make a wordpress account to get their own avatar - so it's a random (robot) one.
I had problems to link my gravatar.com account and had to create a second account to fix it.
