How do I allow individual words to be clicked?

Is there any way to make text that will operate as in Twine or Texture, so that individual words within the body of the text can be clicked on to trigger different actions? The text would vary in length according to other factors so it wouldn't do to put invisible boxes over it to receive the clicks or anything like that.

You could make the individual words or text to be its own text box. Then you could use a simple, cursor over object [textbox] and a when left click condition. If that doesn't work, you could check to see if the X and Y positions are within certain values which would be the area certain text occupies.
