  • The trailer is also use AI voices. I've heard them from Elevenlabs. Still, the game looks great, and I fully support developers using AI to make games.

    • Correct, that's a good point. I use Elevenlabs; it's the best voice generator I've found so far! I never hide the tools I use; in fact, I share every step in my dev vlog on YouTube. I encourage solo devs like me who want to make their dream game alone to embrace all the modern tools available to get things done!

      • I know I watched the YouTube videos quite a bit. Definitely interesting use case also asking ChatGPT about Construct code / how to put stuff together, for the better or the worse. In the end you luckily still had the C3 community to help with the optimization issues.

As for Concept Art, we did the same thing and then still scraped tons of examples from Pinterest, lol. Just to give the actual artist a better idea of what we are looking for in our project. We never would have the budget for a concept artist as we are self-funded by just me at the moment - so no potential jobs were lost

        • As for voice over. The crappy part of that stuff is that Voice Actors aren't compensated for their voice unless you switch to Replica Studios and that just got really expensive, especially now that they made a deal with SAG-AFTRA.

So, there are ethical concerns to be kept in mind when using AI tools. That is why we don't do Voiceover yet as it's expensive, but we also want to compensate people fairly for it. There is just a certain something missing when you take the human element out.

          • I don't worry about that. I've spent thousands to pay my animators who hand-animate stuff in Spine, HUG, and interface artists who prepare all the artwork, musicians who've crafted the awesome music, as well as voice actors and animators who've created fantastic intro videos for the game. I feel good about it and encourage everyone to make their own game!
