As a Construct user since CC, and then Construct 2 from 2012 onwards, it's really sad to see the software go into "the sunset". But I understand it's impossible to keep legacy software running forever. Back then, C2 was both cheap and with the prospect of one-time payment, made it affordable to a lot of people, including myself.
I'm a game developer with more than plenty income from making games, and although I don't fully rely on C3 for the bulk of that income, I am happy to support C3 and it's development because I see more potential in the business model for constant updates and improvements.
I just hope that not having the baggage of maintaining C2 anymore will speed up development on much needed improvements to the engine.
