  • Bump. Has this finally been fixed?

I have Cranberrygames iAP plugin working on both Android and iOS.

  • For iAP I was never able to get the offical iAP to work properly. I swapped to the Cranberrygame iAP plugin and was able to get that working pretty quickly.

As for AdMob, I have never tried the official C2 plugin. I use the Cranberrygame Charboost plugin for ads and its working well (at the moment anyway).

As for your black screen issue. Id just be systematic about testing it. You said you got a successful build recently. Remove everything you added since that build. Then just go one step at a time. Add in your Admob plugin, do a test build to see if it works. etc. Just add one thing at a time and test it. Hopefully that would allow you to identify what is causing problems.

  • UPDATE: Switching to v1.6.1 WORKS!!!

    Happy to help.

  • Jayjay this looks pretty awesome. I like the artwork and player animations. I think I'm seeing a Ghosts and Goblins influence there in the character animations?

  • Possibly. Will be doing tests when I get home. Far as I know once you install r242 there's no going back. Seems like such a hassle to uninstall, reinstall, get plugin, uninstall again....

Best option seems to be look for a guy who doesn't have C2 yet, install and get the plugin from him.

Aren't we talking about updating the InAppBrowser plugin (cordova-plugin-inappbrowser) in Intel XDK? Its not related to the version of C2?

  • Yeah this is something I learned about not that long ago. I was getting black screens on iOS and it turned that it was related to me using an old version of the WKWebView plugin in XDK. When I updated that plugin the blackscreen issue I was having was resolved.

Ok so in your case, it sounds like it was the 1.4.0 version of the InAppBrowser plugin that was causing blackscreens? Since you hadnt updated it I assume that was the version you were using?

Weird thing is I'm using that version with no problems.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Have you tried creating an APK lately though?

    It's either C2 r242 or XDK again.

Yes Ive been exporting for Android, iOS and WinPhone as recently as the last couple of days.

    Im using C2 r242 and XDK 3759.

One thing I just discovered though is that Im using an older version of the InAppBrowser plugin (v.1.4.0).

Checking the documentation I see the latest version of the plugin is v1.6.1.

Which version of the plugin was giving you black screens MPPlantOfficial? Did you have the latest version? If you did, and that was generating black screens for you, I feel reluctant to update it.

  • Ah ok. Well I use the browser object in my game, building with XDK and Im not getting black screens (for the moment). I wonder whats different.

  • > It would be a huge relief to me, and many others Im sure, if Scirra could maintain plugins for GoogePlay and GameCenter achievements / leaderboards

    >

The main change with developing our own IAP/ad plugins is the fact we'll be implementing the underlying Cordova plugins ourselves too. In the case of Google Play, there is no underlying Cordova plugin - we wrote our own C2 plugin, and the C2 plugin directly interfaces with Google's API. So in that case, we basically already maintain the complete plugin. What are you hoping would be different if we re-wrote it?

For both the GooglePlay and GameCenter plugins the main thing I would hope for is they both work reliably and be as easy as possible to implement. I would want to be able to use Achievements and Leaderboards for both platforms.

Maybe the GooglePlay plugin doesn't need to be rewritten at all Ashley, you'd know! If you think it works, allows achievements and leaderboards then I guess nothing needs to be done to it. In that case Id just be asking, could the GameCenter plugin be updated to be functional as well.

  • Some people are focusing on money some others on success some others on the fun of making games some others on giving fun to other people etc... , each one has his own point of view and your point of view makes me think you are looking for money

My goal is to build a career doing something I love. And generating income is a obviously part of that. Im not all about money, I enjoy making games that try to be original, aesthetically pleasing with nice artwork, and the kinds of games I like to play myself.

Your statement was that iOS wasnt worth focusing on and that Apple is a 'dying product'. I was just pointing out that IMO you're wrong.

  • Could you use the Browser object in C2? Make a button and just say 'On Touch > Browser object close' ?

I havent tried that so I'm not sure if it works. I just allow users to press the home button to quit out of my game.

The browser object also has a 'back' action. You could make your own back button too?

  • From the Scirra blog:

[quote:14zerlvi]As promised, Construct 2 projects import to Construct 3...

...So you can rest assured your project will import correctly. (Note if you use third-party addons, you will need to install Construct 3 versions of the addons before importing.)

Hi Ashley , Re third party plugins and compatibility of C2 projects with C3. If I am using Cranberrygame's Cordova plugins in my game (like many other C2 developers who are focused on mobile), it sounds like I won't be able to import that game to C3, with the Cordova plugins in their current state? I will need to rely on Cranberrygame updating his Cordova plugins to make them compatible with C3. Is that the case?

    Thanks
