  • I have it on my dropbox..

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/139486255/ALPHABET/index.html

so there is an issue somehow with the server maybe...??

and yes all the files are loaded.

  • I have been searching the forum and tutorials for a solution

and having a bit of difficulty.

    Please help.

I have tried this game on my public dropbox and it works fine.

    but

when I try to load to my website I am getting a black screen,

I have checked the browser for errors.

It loads the game files but I am getting some error messages

and don't know what they mean....

    please help

    In Chrome I used:

Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + J to open Developer Tools. There should be an error log at the bottom of the pane that opens

    The error messages are:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'b' of undefined

    Failed to load resource

The key "minimal-ui" is not recognized and ignored. ( for Apple only so I don't think it matters with Chrome)

Anyway, can someone with more experience look at this

    for me please.

    The website is ..

  • a member here has posted a tutorial that describes exactly

step by step how to do that and much more.....

  • I am fairly new to C2 but I find that as long as any individual layout isn't oversized or too 'heavy' then C2 works very good.

If you have , say, 1000 pages on a single layout then you may have performance issues,

but as long as you keep any individual layout 'light' then I think you

    will be fine,

for example, I recently made a Kids Alphabet game, sliding from letter to letter, etc,... I first made it all on one layout and it was very slow on mobile devices, so I simply made each letter on a separate layout and preload only the needed sounds for that layout... it now works great and I am able to add extra things like sine behavior, etc to the game to make it more fun.

So, you could make each page on a separate layout, this way nothing gets bloated and you can have more animations, and effects on each page enhancing the user experience.

    and

C2 is so easy to use too. I recommend C2.

How many pages do you think you will have?

Anybody with more experience want to chime in?

  • it's also a good idea to run thru a tutorial or two for beginners.

    like here

  • it will happen I am sure.. just later on. :-)

  • opps.. my bad

  • SOLVED..

    SOLVED !

iOS ( and only iOS) did not like the sound file ( to play when touching sprite) for some reason, when I changed it to a different sound file, it works fine...

    Link to .capx file (required!):

    dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/139486255/Sample_capx/REPORT_BUG.capx

Here also is a working demo ( stripped down version - no extra layouts and no pulgins - of the game/bug )

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. On an iOs device, simply try to touch the green buttons on the left side on the menu layout.

    I have tried many fixes,

    a. disabled the global variable 'events'

    b. change the name of event sheet and layout

    c. changed the sprites

    and

    always the same problem.

    UPDATE ....

I have been tinkering with this problem ....

I disabled the sound play event and it works fine on the iOS device,

so it doesn't like playing that sound...

    hhhmmmmm

    the file name is Sound_Click

let me remove the underscore to it will be SoundClick

    same crash ..

so it doesn't like playing that sound , let me change it to a different sound file altogether and see what happens...

    stay tuned..

    SOLVED

I tried swapping out the sound to a completely different sound and it works on my iOS devices...

    SOLVED

    Observed result:

crashes when I press a button

    Expected result:

change the sound that is played when playing the game.

    Browsers affected:

    iOS Chrome: YES

    iOS Safari: YES

works fine on a computer /// I have NOT tested on an android device as I don't have one.

    Operating system & service pack:

I have two iOS devices, one with the latest iOS 7, and another with an older iOS 6..

    same problem on both devices.

    Construct 2 version:

  • oooohhhhh, I see... I was wondering why it was waiting 1 second...

    what a time saver !

    now I know.

    thanks so much.

  • Hi Everybody

I have been fiddling with this event for .... ( too embarrassed to say how long actually -- tooo long)

and I can?t seem to get it to work properly.

I hope someone can please help me.

What I want to happen is:

When ?Y? object is touched, it will spawn the ?Z? object, then wait a moment ( determined by Global Variable WAIT) and then restart layout.

It works fine if I enter the exact number of seconds in the System>Wait dialog,

but if I enter the WAIT global variable ( as pictured below) instead of the exact number of seconds it has a short delay but NOT the number of seconds expressed in the WAIT global variable.

(I have used 10 and 20 seconds as extreme examples BTW)

Help Please, see capx and image.<img src="https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/139486255/Image/wait_example.jpg" border="0">
