  • I have finally come to a completion of my game and will be releasing my first project. At the beginning, I was going to release it on Steam. But I realize itch.io is very beginner friendly and it doesn't take much or cost 100 dollars just to upload a game and sell it. Especially if the 100$ goes to waste from no sells. So im not in no rush for steam. itch.io is a really good place for me to start to get some experience on marketing and sells. The main goal of this all was to get the experience and that's what I achieved. I jumped into this project not knowing much coding at all, and was able to learn some advance stuff I couldn't possible think was possible, but knew it was possible to do. Worked on this for 3 years, since the middle of 2019 around September. Not too bad for my first game. But anyways, I will release it tonight on itch.io at 12AM. The full game has been changed from feedback I got. I can finally move on, take a break close this project and start working on my other projects I started on. I will upload here tonight.

  • A screenshot of one of my side projects im working on. It's another arcade game that I will soon work on after my main project is completely finish. This is the first developed look and finally have a concept I can officially like. Early development but had this project since last year and put some work in it today. The game style will be a defense tower like type of game.

    After version

    This was the earlier version....

  • So, since the demo of the game has launched I haven't gotten a lot feedback as I liked. However, I had received positive feedback of the game outside it's comments section, in other posts I made of it. Newgrounds would defiantly get the feedback I need to see, so I will be altering the controls just for that site since they have scrolling on their page that the buttons are used to play the game. I had one guy beat the full demo of my game, so I was happy to see that and know that the game is not too hard for a person to play. Anyways, not giving up and will follow through with launching and making my first project as a developer. Regardless if its a success or not, im just happy to make video games :) If you haven't already checked out the game, please come try it out and tell me what you think of it on my itch.io account. Looking for more of the feedback and it's defiantly welcomed. Until then, see you later players ;)

If you have an itch.io account lets follow eachother, looking to connect more with other developers.

  • Apparently it sold well for it's launch. So I do see potential in it and Im also curious to see the games that will come for this device as well. Articles of it keeps popping up on my feeds. Im looking forward to it tho.

  • Just ran into this article today about the Playdate and another game device. Its basically saying why it won't last long despite a good idea it is.

But who knows, it could do well.

  • Thanks Kyatric. Very helpful insight and thanks for checking into it even further. I thought it could be possible in a way for Construct games to be playable or crossover but I guess not.

  • Try Construct 3

I see your point. The Switch is more for popular known games tho then indie-games. They do have indie-games for the switch, but their games(nes/nintendo)mainly dominates the device such as smash bros, Mario kart, bros and party, Zelda, Pokemon ,etc. Steam Deck on the other hand is more for both indie and well-known games, which I never knew there was a Steam Deck until you commented lol. I had to look it up and do some research. I do like the idea of Playdate tho that it is made for the indie games as well. Im not sure if it's ONLY for indie games, but I do like the thought of that besides Steam Deck having a better edge over Playdate.

Ran across this video the other day and thought how cool this was for them to make a gameboy like device for only indie games. Apparently this has been made a year ago but they are just now making an official release of the Playdate game device. I reached out to the developers myself to see if they would possibly be interested of my indie arcade game, Maze Zone, just yesterday and am waiting to get a reply💙. The device only have 4 indie games on it, but it can store up to 25 games on it. I may be interested in getting one myself but I'll have to see . I think it's possible for construct developers to their games featured on the device as well.

  • My advice is to get all the things YOU CAN DO done. Whether thats levels, coding that isn't too advance for you to do, designs, characters, etc etc. THEN I would look for advice of someone with more experience then you to help you on your project. If your just starting out or too early of development, then it would be hard to find someone to work with you because that's a big burden and a huge load to take on and try to figure out your game. So the best thing is to get what you can get done to the best of your ability and after you got things finish, that you know for sure that is set for your game, then look for that help and guidance to help you finish what you couldn't do on your own. It's about knowing exactly what you want first in your game and doing it to the best of your ability if your able.
