  • Hey all! Check out Sam, my first LD entry! Went into this jam not entirely sure what I would come out with, but 72 hours later (only 16 of which I slept), I’m pretty happy with the result. I bounced around a lot of ideas with the theme, and tried to incorporate it on multiple levels, but I think I may have gone too abstract. Nonetheless, it was a great experience where I learned a lot and I’m looking forward to playing other submissions! I’ll also be posting a much more in depth write up of my experience last weekend later on.

All graphics and coding were done during the jam by me from scratch except the dialogue system. Music is from marksparling.com. Sound from freesound.org.

  • iballers is this a paid position?

  • Tired of manually resizing all your game icons? I made a simple utility to automate the process. You can create customs presets, then save and load them. Comes with a Construct 2 preset. I personally use it for windows 10 exporting, which requires 40-something different icon sizes.

I know there is a ton of applications like this already, but none of them were streamlined how I liked. You can choose to resize in point or linear.

I just tried updating my game 3 times. What's the deal?

I really hope C3 has an embedded mobile builder. At the very least scirra should consider licensing one and working with a company to have full official embedded support in the program. To cover the licensing costs, maybe it could be offered as a separate thing. I'd be happy to pay extra for that, I feel other users would be as well.

Right now getting C2 apps to work on mobile is a nightmare, and the pricing options on popular platforms are unrealistic for indie developers ($500 to remove a splash screen!?). I have to spend anywhere from 1-3 hours with every export to fix rudimentary bugs when trying to get my games to work on mobile devices.

  • that "minify script" is a bad idea

    How so?

  • That you can use the F4 key to start the preview from the 1st layout.

4 years and I never knew this. Thank you!

This is more game design in general than just C2, but tween EVERYTHING. lerp() should be your best friend.

  • Thanks for the official response Ashley

Safari has always been such a pain to work with, it's a shame it's the default browser on iphones.

  • I had this issue multiple times too and didn't know how to report it either, but i think it has something to do with webgl effects combined with the sprite font object.

Try to fix it by deleting the webgl fx from the sprite font, save, close and reopen the project and if that fixed it try to re-add the fx.

I don't have any sprite fonts with webgl effects, but I do have some other objects with effects on them.

My drivers are fully updated, and windows 10 is as well, so there's no way to re-install directx:

    Request fullscreen

Request that the browser enter fullscreen mode. Note the browser may ignore this request unless the action is in a user-initiated event, such as a mouse click, key press, touch event or button press. The fullscreen modes that can be entered correspond to the Fullscreen in browser project property. For more information see supporting multiple screen sizes. Note not all platforms support requesting fullscreen - use the Supports requesting fullscreen condition to check for availability.

That's what I've been using, I may be remembering incorrectly but I believe there used to be an event to hide browser url bar. Maybe it has been replaced by this. I was trying it at the start of layout so I tried making it a touch reacted event but that didn't seem to work either. So it appears the answer to my question is no.

  • Looks like there was a misunderstanding here, I'm just accessing the game through the safari webpage. It's exported as an html5 website.

  • I've talked to another developer and he tells me safari on ios doesn't respond well to js. That would explain why this doesn't work here. Is there any way in construct 2 to do this? Perhaps a way outside of C2 with custom code on the game page...
