  • kyatric, you're the BEST. just finished downloading 104, ran your project and the solution was so simple, and elegant. is there a FAQ list of "how do i..." topics you (or others like you have) that i can go to before posting here? the tut's section is like searching for a needle in a hay stack. any advice on finding a central-list-of "how to's" for beginners, indeterminate, etc? thanks again, i really appreciate your help.

  • cool, thanks. i'm downloading version 104 right now to see your project, i had the 103.2 version. thanks for your help. :-)

  • can you help so i can do the following:

in the game-title screen (eg, "play game", "difficulty level", "exit") i would like to animate the buttons...so that if the player clicks on the button/sprite "play game" then you have 4-buttons that move off the screen and into the screen...the 4 difficulty buttons.

how shall i do that? option 1: create a layer with the difficulty buttons and have that layer "move" onto screen. option 2: use 4-different sprites, and move them each on the screen one at a time. or option 3, a better way you may know of and would like to share with me.

essentially, after clicking on "play game", i would like the 4-different sprites/buttons to come on the screen at the same time, but i dont know what is the "better"/easier/efficient way.

    can you please assist?

  • if i have a layout with 3 different layers. how do i the following: when the user clicks on a button, turn the background layer (a large color image) into grayscale with the pre-built grayscale-effect?

i looked everywhere and i cannot get the effects to "apply" when you click on the button.

    can anyone help?

  • cool, thanks guys. i looked at terms like you suggested and i can use it on another pc as long as i'm the only one (and that's not a problem at all). my only question is do you think a run-of-the-mill laptop would be adequate as far as development?

  • guys, i bought the C2 license for my home computer; and just found out i'll be on a business trip for 2-months and i want to work on my game during that trip. i have 2 questions:

1 - am i allowed to use the same license on 2 computers (so i can work on the business trip)? if so, how do i do it? if not, what do you recommend?

2 - can i run the C2 application to develop/debug my game on a Windows 8 Samsung tablet, or do i have to use it on a "regular" windows lap top? what are your suggestions or advice?

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

  • cool, thanks 's what i was looking for. one last question, where can i find a list of plug-ins created by other users, 3rd party?

    thanks again for your help.

  • guys, does the standard touch plug-in support "pinch/swipe" to zoom in/out of the screen on smart phones? or is there another plugin that does? i searched the tutorials for an answer before posting here, but couldnt find anything.

i'm trying to create a game from scratch that supports both mobile and desktop platforms, and i've arrived at the conclusion that the only way i can support both platforms is to give mobile version the ability to zoom in/out of the play field and i'd like to do that in the most intuitive way that doesnt bother the player.

any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

  • KidsOnTheBeat, you hit the nail on the head...that is exactly the point i was raising. developing on dual platforms requires special considerations developers never had to consider before, exactly as you mentioned. some games may never be able to be ported over to mobile, while most can...but doing so requires more than adjusting for resolution, or having touch-friendly coding; the entire story-boarding of the game has to carefully planned from the beginning...at each step, each level, each new character asking yourself how it'll appear/play out on both platforms...the headaches are so much.

  • i thank you & appreciate both of your feedback, they're valuable. my dilemma is how to bring a playing-filed that fits a regular monitor down to the tiny size of a smart-phone, without oversimplifying the game with only 2 sprites on the screen at any one time, or driving the player crazy with scrolling up/down a 1000-times during a game play. it's so hard to develop a title on both media and i cannot get to the balance.

  • guys, i have a question: creating a game for a desktop (html 5) requires a lot of vested interest and time on level-design, interface-layout & design, etc....

....but porting that same game over to mobile devices (ios, android) is a nightmare because: HOW DO YOU FIT all that interface, game playing area on the super tiny screen and still be an enjoyable gaming experience.

a great desktop game could easily become a horrible game when ported over to mobile devices, but if you don't port your game over someone else might take the idea and do it.

so my question is this: has anyone else agonized about how to create a game from the "ground up" so it plays great on a desktop and still ports over successfully to a tiny-screen? FYI i'm not making a action game with tons of bombs & bullets everywhere (dont know if that helps you in your recommendations to me). sometimes it feels like it's not even worth the trouble to target both platforms, but they're both huge markets.

ANY HELP would be GREATLY appreciated.

  • guys is there a "quick and easy" way to internationalize your game? for example, at the main menu the gamer can select: English, or French (as a random example) and have the game menus "translated" in different language font? is this even possible, or shall i safe different PNG image files (one for each language word/phrase) and display the correct language interface as such?

i've never tackled this in my previous games, and i'm new to C2 (and will be making all my future games with C2) and not sure how to even tackle this issue.

hope i posted to the right location.
