  • Nice, 01lifeleft! Very kid-friendly!

Any chance of sharing your capx/caproj file in DropBox?

  • Brilliant having a manual now - and such a well organised and clearly written one!

A suggestion: put a prominent link to it on the Start Page of the next release of C2.

  • Your code is pretty messy, it's hard to get into it ...

Yes, how about adding some comments in your event sheet, maldrok?

  • Thanks for the prompt and positive response, Ashley. I'll get on to it.

BTW, I think Construct 2 is a FANTASTIC game engine/dev environment. I started writing games (just as a hobby) in 1987 in USCD Pascal and Turtlegraphics. I marvel at the Construct 2 UI and code generator - absolutely BRILLIANT work!

  • As a Construct 2 newbie, I wanted to add sounds to my game (of course!) and hunted around in the tutorials and forum for pointers on how to go about it, but couldn't find any.

In the end, througn trial and error (quite a bit of that), I worked out how to do it (insert an Audio object in the Layout, import sound files in the Project Bar, ...).

Is there room for a mini-tutorial on adding sounds (I'd be happy to write it)?

Or have I missed seeing documentation that was staring me in the face?

  • Thanks for your confirmation that it does work, Tokinsom. That set me to figuring out why it didn't work for me.

After puzzling and playing around, I realised that I was simply entering '"Xxx" & NewLine & "Yyy"' as the text string in the Text object Properties and that whatever you enter there simply displays literally.

What I needed to do was use a 'Set text' event to display my text string and then I got my newline working.

    Another beginner's lesson learnt!

  • I see that you can insert a newline in text in Construct Classic ("Text" & NewLine & "more text") - but is there any way of doing this when using the Text object in Construct 2?

  • Thanks, tonycrew - works a treat! (kbdmaster, Alferd Spritesheet Unpacker is for unpacking spritesheets - which is not my need at the moment, but may come in useful in the future.)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Just a follow-up to this - I've no problem with making sprites, but I'd just like a steer on setting border transparency. Do I take it that it has to be done in a PNG using alpha transparency, then you bring it in to Construct 2 and the sprite shows up there with a transparent border? Thanks!
