  • Well, in theory, you could make a native app that can run web apps.

Nice idea actually, doubtful Apple would allow such a thing tho.....

That's what I'm thinking as well.

Although Google maps made their own version of maps but that isn't the same thing.

You can use UIWebView in Xcode but I somehow feel that won't be enough to run a game. Im wondering if there are libraries you could add from safari to make it work better.

  • I pretty much figured they are web apps. But as of now don't you have to use safari if you want to do this? Is there a way to get the same functionality in a native app? As far as I know the only way to do this is to go to the site and then bookmark it to your screen. It would be great to not have to go through safari.

  • Releasing an app per store can get complicated and take a lot of time. If you release it to your website it can be a lot simpler.

What if you could release an app that pulled the game right from your website. That way your fans could download one app and you can update your content to the web which is a lot easier.

Basically, it would be like a mobile website. You could update the website on your own and you can upload the games without having to go through the certification process. The question is if this can be done with a native app from Xcode or done with the Android SDK.

It would be nice to do this without having to pull up safari on the iPhone but instead have it completely done through your custom app. I would also assume that you would have to package a whole bunch of HTML 5 libraries in order to make it work.

    Thoughts?

  • So I love the export features in C2. There always seems to be be more added everytime I come back here. From a logistics point of view I think that a 1 file exporter would be an option to consider for the future.

First of all, as silly as this sounds, it is much easier to load one file instead of many. I know you just have to drag the folder over, however if everything is packaged like a flash game, it looks and feels easier.

If there was a single file exporter we could also site lock it just like flash games. I know this isn't full proof but it would be a lot better than the current standard.

Unity also has a web player which for the most part is one file.

I know this is harder to accomplish than it sounds. Is there anyway to access web folders from a zip file on the internet?

    What does everybody think?

  • Sounds awesome I can't wait!

  • lucid are spriter graphics vector graphics?

  • That looks awesome. Gradients can be tricky in vector programs and usually are the reason people don't work in vectors. If it had an animation feature that would be insane. But nevertheless it looks better than illustrator and that's a hard line to top.

  • I think that when I minified the code it didn't run. But I will try again without the minified code.

  • I did not...

Where do you put this privacy policy and where can I get a stock one?

  • So my app failed review for the windows store. The only thing I can think of is that I put that it has access to the internet under the capailities in the apppackage manifest. I thought you had to do this if you want ads in your game. Anyway here is what I got back. Has any body else had anything similar?

Commons reasons why apps fail this requirement:

    The app crashes on launch.

The app crashes randomly or repeatedly.

The app freezes and the user has to close and restart the app.

The app requires a Windows component library that the Windows Store doesn't support. To avoid this, make sure your development tools are up-to-date.

  • This thread is almost a year old. I am happy to say that you can add in app purchases with the metro plugin. :-)
