  • Hi there fellows!

This is a game that I made during a week off my main project. The next step would be adapting it to mobile and other html5 portals.

(speaking of which, I am accepting suggestions of gaming portals that would accept it )

    Play Penguin Slide!

    Play on GameJolt!

I hope you guys like it!

  • Hi there guys!

I came here humbly asking for help. As I can't properly translate to Construct what I am thinking <img src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I want to develop a vertical oriented endless runner, with randomly generated blocks through the screen.

I thought in something like this:

    1) assuming that we have a basic horizontal piece divided into 3 as a base for the background, like this:

        [ ][ ][ ]

So the screen would be composed by 2 of them.

        [ ][ ][ ]

        [ ][ ][ ]

As one background piece goes out of the layout, it is moved backwards, and it goes on. (as the endless runner .capx example does)

    2) as a piece goes out of screen, i would like to randomly change the 3 parts that compose it before it appears on screen again. For example:

        1st moment

        [ ][ ][ ](piece A)

        [ ][ ][ ](piece B)

        2nd moment

        [ ][X][ ](piece B)

        [ ][ ][ ](piece A)

        3rd moment

        [X][X][ ](piece A)

        [ ][X][ ](piece B)

Now I'm stuck. What would be the best way to implement this?

I have serious difficulties with working with arrays. I know its importance and I am more than willing to learn it, but it is hard to figure out how I would use it.

Other thing I thought is creating 3 global variables. they would store numbers (equal the number of different tiles). As soon as one background piece goes out of the screen, their numbers would change randomly, and then depending of the new numbers, a different set of sprites would compose the background piece.

Do you guys have any suggestions/tips for me?

    Thanks in advance!

  • is there a C2 .capx example of this tutorial?

  • Many thanks for those valuable tips. Surely I'll look for put them in practice!

  • Hi there guys.

My game is about 70% done. It is an arcade sidescroller planned to have 40 stages grouped in 4 themed worlds. By now 3 worlds are complete.

My question is: Is there anything that I should being taking care of, besides working on the game? Building a website? providing a demo for some indie game blog/forum/etc?

What is the experience of you guys in this situation?

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Kind regards.

  • Hi gilenew, thanks for answer!

Even without the Sine behavior (I have other similar character whose parts doesn't feature it) the problem persists.

I think that the problem is the Pin. Once the head wraps around the screen, the other parts follow it before they make it through the screen boundary.

But I can't find a better solution to create this snake. =/

  • Anyone? <img src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hi guys. Long time without participating here!

I have a snake-like character (If you ever played Megaman X, it should be like those Eel like enemies from Launch octopus stage)

Its head moves on a invisible tile that server as a "rail" to it. Its body is divided in 5 parts. all of them pinned one to another as "Rope".

    <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a126/shinobi_br/rails_zps72d0e27a.png" border="0" />

I would like to have this snake wrap around the screen boundaries, but I am facing the problem below:

    <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a126/shinobi_br/wrap_problem_zpsed260f50.gif" border="0" />

Is there any clever way to make it wrap around the screen without this weird stuff happening?

    Thanks in advance!

Some screens from the World 2 of my game, Tinysaur. :)

  • Hello everyone, long time no see!

Besides the lot of trouble and lack of time and motivation, I am about to finish Tinysaur's World 2. there are still some issues to work at.

For those who want to test it (pretty please!!!), I uploaded a demo on my Google Drive account:

    Tinysaur, World 2 Demo!

  • Participated for the first time. Despite the extra challenge of having to deal with french class/home chores/girlfriend, I managed to deliver something playable. :)

If you guys want to take a look at my game:

    Play Maze of Kaboom

  • Nice idea, and the visual is gorgeous!

I suggest working a little bit at the bird's physics, it`s pretty hard to maneuver it to catch the triangles and take them to the nests. also, the frequency and speed of the falling triangles is a bit high, at least for the beginning

  • That was nicely done, congratulations! Hope you keep improving it!

  • I wrote a small tutorial with what I suggested to Sushin: scirra.com/tutorials/557/using-any-fonts-in-your-project

  • Try Construct 3
