  • A custom server would be good for in game purchases. Hopefully they don't take a large cut. The chrome store takes only 5% which is a welcome change from the 30% the app store takes.

  • For me the best is to call it programming since it's a broad term and everybody understands.

That's the way I see it too. Although eventing also works. But talking to people who know nothing about games or programming. Programming works best.

  • Hey guys,

On this fine day would you mind telling the tail on why you chose to make C2. What led up to the decision?

  • Also eventing sounds like inventing.

EDIT: Also Tom no programming required is the perfect way to describe C2.

  • I always thought coding and programming where synonymous, is it different in different languages?

I thought so too. The trend of no coding engines like yours is a welcome change. I can't tell you how many projects I had to scrap because of syntax, scope and just general technical garbage.

When I am working in C2 I think I am programming the game. When I work with Visual Studio I am coding a game.

  • What does everybody call the process of "programming" in C2? I call it programming. Technically I am programming logic into the game. Im not coding anything because Im not writing anything down.

I also like to call programs like C2 and game salad visual programming languages.

Personally, programming and visual programming languages have a nice ring to it. I also find that by calling these by those names it's easier to describe what you are doing to people who know nothing about games.

    What does everybody think?

  • Awesome! Take your time and add that usual Scirra finesse!

    Wow this looks pretty good.

    HTML5 in-app purchases

    Social Engagement (Leader-boards, Achievements, etc.)

Making HTML5 games that work on all platforms (iOS,Android,FaceBook,Chrome Store,Mobile Web)

    Adding "Gamification" to business apps

As usual I am all about the in game purchases but the other features look good too. Maybe sometime down the road after the current to do list is complete it might be a good idea to implement these features.

Again, I feel that IGP, achievements, leaderboards etc are just as important of a game mechanic as jumping or WASD movement.

Let me know what you think.

  • Great job guys! I can't wait for particles

  • Damn I love these. There is nothing like measurable results!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • ASHLEY. Sometimes these conferences can pay for your trip and expenses you might want to look into that for next year.

  • I could see this being useful as well.

  • Families would be a great addition!

  • Also it's going up in price in a few days...

  • Nearest engine to C2 with social games capabilities that i can think is Stencyl. And damn, they're ahead of C2 in terms of supported platforms. There's Flash, iOS(appears to be native) and soon Android and HTML5 as stated on their site. I don't like the Stencyl workflow so i'll stay with my beloved C2 <img src="smileys/smiley14.gif" border="0" align="middle">

It looks like stencyl is going to have IAP soon. That's a big one.
