  I'm sure DirectX 9 comes with Vista and Win7, they just don't include the "optional" addons that Construct games require.

  Don't ask me why they do it like this. DirectX 10 has a similar set of "optional" addons that would probably work the same way. The solution is probably to have a future version of Construct bundle in the DirectX updates that are required.

  How about always scrolling in some direction but setting the gameplay layer scroll rates to 0 so it doesnt go anywhere?

  This is not possible, sorry. You could try something like a hash table in a container with the object for that though.

  Microsoft release updates to DirectX periodically, but they don't change the version number from 9.0c. Exported Construct games require the August 2008 DirectX update, because it uses features that are in that update, but are not in the original 9.0c version.

  The solution is simple. Just follow the instructions the message provides, to install the DirectX update. Then it will work!

  Objects in containers can have actions individually applied to them, such as being set to separate positions and angles. Conditions, on the other hand, pick the entire container whenever one object in the container is picked.

  I think the best way to do a conversational system is read external text/ini/whatever files with a list of all the dialog in them. Otherwise you're going to have a ridiculous mass of pointless events all just to contain the dialog.

  I'm not certain how the effect works, but it looks a bit like the red, green and blue channels have been separately offset in different directions, as if the R, G and B electron beams in a TV were misaligned. If that's all there is it shouldn't be too hard to make in a shader, but it's hard to reproduce any effect in a shader without a precise description of how the effect works in the first place.

  You don't need to worry about posting bugs to both the forum and the tracker. The tracker is where they belong and are checked.
