  • Good luck everyone!

  • Do whichever you feel is right for the game and stick to it. Looks like the image you used has padding. Remove it so that the first tile is against the corners

  • I think we did enought post in this forum. Maybe i have to answer questions.

I have one, what do you intend to do with everything you posted and how do you plan on doing it?

  • Noga I have made it ! What do you think guys?

Great job looks awesome, now here is the best part. Colours, like everything should be chosen, polished, polished and polished.

One awesome way to quickly do this is to select what you want to recolour, (Menu bar) Edit > Edit Colours > Recolour Artwork

This is a live editor window and it has a good system for picking out colours at eye glance. CMYK. Here I'm talking about the bars you can set colours, I think CMYK is a good choice for eye picking colours. Then there's HSB which is more of a nitpicking system since after you have the colour you can control the saturation and lightness to create that harmony you're looking for.

To change the system in Recolor Artwork you have to perss the dropdown button on the right of the C bar and textbox. If you have any questions let me know, great job keep going!

  • Hello, I'm Cris.

  • I'm ashamed to admit I took this thread seriously

  • , ditto. Plus, if you do wind up creating something that's actually fun and well build, there is no reason why you can't simply change up all the derivative content and then release the game to the public. : )

Exactly, we all have to start somewhere

Also hey there long time no see!

  • Try Construct 3

  • It all comes down to profiting and who does it belong to. You can definitely use those characters if you're making a fan game and you're doing it to learn. Is pretty unlikely that your first projects will reach a point that anyone who doesn't want you using those sprites will see it.

So if you're using it to learn more about game dev and have more fun in what you make then go ahead.

  • Hey, for some reason your left walk is different. Do you have a different animation for it or are you just flipping the character? The problem with the moonwalk is that the feet behind goes back, also the walking animation is a bit flawed. They should raise their legs a bit more and you should raise all animation speeds. They're all really slow compared to the speed the character is walking at.

  • Hey! Although it was good practice coming up with those mechanics there is a lot more behind making or even planning a game than just that. Maybe next time you should plan small and see if you can cover everything you imagine. Game physics, mechanics, visuals, story, sound, etc. Just think of a really small game and see if you can plan it out completely. Also start questioning logics in the games you play, why does the game work the way it does and see if you can start planning out and designing the game logic.

  • Hey, what exactly are you trying to make? If it doesn't look realistic because the colours lack harmony then you should spend some time researching on colours. Everything you can find on the topic. Examples of how other people use colours and just research.

I'd suggest you get Adobe Illustrator if you're using Adobe software. Photoshop has it's uses but for UIs and designing is always best to start with Illustrator since it's easier to work with shapes and everything is vector.

If there's anything I can do to help you out let me know!

  • I just got into Transistor (On sale on Steam!). Extraordinary artistic direction, super smooth fight sequences, a great game! It's from Super Giant Games, who previously made Bastion.

I also got Strange Deep, and even if I was pretty interested at first, it ended up being super boring. But it's a pre-release so we'll see.

Checked out Transistor and it looks beautiful. Will buy it soon, thanks for that!
