  • I've found it's possible to introduce spaces in both the author and class names by adding them after creating the addon and hitting the "Update Addon" button.

  • Hi, I got a crash using the normal (non-zipped) version, which Norton has seen fit to allow me to use now, for whatever reason. I can post a log if you want, but it's easy to reproduce. I just created a new addon using my name, with spaces. After creating it, I double-clicked it in the list and then clicked "Update Addon", and c3IDE popped up an unhandled exception log. The first couple lines are:

ERROR MESSAGE => Value cannot be null.

    Parameter name: pattern

  • Cool, I was just concerned that spaces in the Author value might cause some problems. But if not, great! And yes, if it crashes on me I'll be sure and send you the log.

  • Thanks hopefully it works from the zip file, did not do much testing. So let me know if anything.

It seems to be working, thanks!

I was wondering why "Company" was removed from the Addon Data screen? It seems like the Author Name is being used instead. Is that intentional and are spaces allowed in that case?

  • Yes, I imagine if you wanted to distribute a virus there are far easier ways, haha. Thank you so much for the zip. Can't wait to check it out. And thanks for the extensive, illustrated documentation on your app. It's really impressive.

  • Yeah that's fine try and compile it if u run into any issue let me kbow and I'll build one without the updates.

It seems Norton security is flagging the setup.exe and deleting it as soon as I execute it. It was deleting setup.exe.deploy files when I was trying to get the app to compile, too. So yeah, if you have time to make a version of the app that doesn't auto update, that would be helpful. I'm hesitant to disable Norton because even though it semi-routinely throws false positives, it throws quite a few true positives too!

  • Cool, given how much active development you're doing, I'd hate to ask you to spend your time working on an offline version. I'll either work from a networked machine or compile it myself for now, thanks!

  • This looks super helpful, thank you! Is there an offline installer or portable version, by any chance? I tried installing on a PC with no direct access to the internet, and it failed after rebooting when the installer tried to fetch the application. Failing that, I can grab the source code and just build the exe myself, I assume? Thanks again.

  • I am surprised and delighted to see that Geocities is still around.

  • Hello Everyone

I'm using C2 for mobile app, currently is C2 + XDK + Cordova + Android studio.

I want to confirm that... if I moved to C3, I can..

    1. Using current C2 file on C3 ?

    2. No more need XDK+ Cordova + Android studio for App create (APK & iOS files) ?

    3. Plugin from C2 are availbe for C3 ,right ? such as litetween, IAP, App-rate, Chipmunk Physic, Rex, Ultimate ads .. etc...

    Pls kindly confirm...

    1. Yes, although if the plugins you're using aren't supported, this won't work (see 3, below).

    2. I'm not sure about the build process for iOS, but yeah you can build APKs with Construct's service directly, and it's pretty straightforward. I sure never missed XDK after switching to C3.

    3. That depends on the specific plugins you're using. The plugin architecture is different in C3, so each C2 plugin must be ported to C3 for it to work. Not all of the 3rd party ones are going to have C3 versions (though yours might - you need to dig around yourself to verify this). There was also a free tool floating around that could port C2 plugins to C3, but I'm not sure how well it works or if it's still up to date. Again, this is something you need to research for yourself, but it should be pretty easy to search the forums for updates to each of the plugins you're using.

Plugin considerations aside, C3 is a hands-down superior product in terms of workflow and usability, and it's been getting some nice feature updates lately, so if you continue using Construct for future projects I'd suggest upgrading then even if you decide not to now.

  • Can you describe what you're trying to do and what's going wrong in more detail? I'm not sure what platforms you mean or where you're having trouble.

  • eddynardo What's the name of your game? The link isn't working for me and I have no idea what to search for, but I'd like to see it.
