  • Last week I wrote a 2 player version of checkers using the official US rules found at rules page.

The game can be installed and played free in the Synapstore on Synaptop, but it requires 2 players to play (or you can play by yourself with 2 accounts).

And here's a screen shot of the game:

  • It looks good, nice style and it looks polished. It would have been nice to have a prompt to skip the dialogue, I didn't see any sort of tutorial or explanation of the controls, however it wasn't hard to figure out with your description of the game and a little guess work (wasd is pretty common). It'd be nice to see some interesting boss battles in the future.

Ps. Using pure html5 and construct 2 should make the game work on all browsers and mobile devices as long as you don't use the parts of it that are unsupported by some browsers. (These things include WebGL shader effects, Browser media and multiplayer functionality, I'm pretty sure you're safe). I say this because I've been developing with construct 2's html5 and testing it's limits for a few months now, and I've tested on at least 3 browsers and on android. I'm not 100% sure but I think I also ran a test on IOS once and it went fine as well.

  • Since I love getting feedback, I thought I would make it easier for you guys to try out the game and comment on it. To this end, I uploaded a slimmed down version of it to the Scirra Arcade and linked to it in the main post. If you like it, try it out on Synaptop with friends.

  • I finished another game, again you can play it free on Synaptop. You'll find it in the Synapstore under the "games" tab.

Alternatively, if you prefer trying it out on Construct's own arcade, check out the single player version.

The object of the game is to be the first one to guess what a player is drawing. Players take turns at drawing, and if you guess correctly it becomes your turn to draw (and you gain a point). What the drawing player draws is determined by a card. The players of the game can create custom cards for the game, or use default cards when they start the game.

    Here's some screen shots:

Again, if you have feedback, I'd love to hear it.

  • Ah, must have skimmed over that line, thanks

  • Part of the layout of my game includes a text box that players can talk to each other with, for which I found a text box did everything I needed, except it doesn't obey the rule of staying in it's layer, it just pops up in front of everything no matter which layer it is in. I've tried changing Z order, changing layers etc, but it always pops up in front. Is this a property of text boxes or can I change it with some CSS code?

    Here's some screenshots.

  • I got my second tutorial video up and ready to view. (It's in the OP)

  • Just thought I drop a note that I stopped using MS paint for anything except cropping images after I found Paint.net (free/open source).

Paint.net is better in almost every conceivable way that I've tested, except that it's slightly harder to crop images in (you have to enter the number of pixels large you want the canvas to be).

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • You're welcome ^^ If you're using it and have questions or feedback please send them my way. Also if you have complete game for Synaptop, I'd love to see it.

  • I just finished a memory game for Synaptop a couple days ago. You can check it out at their website http://www.synaptop.com. It's in the Synapstore listed under "games" (it's free).

It can be played single player or multi player. The latter of which means players will take turns, while finding a match grants an extra turn.

    Here's a screenie:

    And here's one showing multiplayer:

    [attachment=0:3srul847]MemoryScreenie2.png[/attachment:3srul847]

hmm, would it make it easier if I shrink the screenies?

Now with an external page: http://www.synaptop.com/synappstore/app ... /ID-254518

  • Ok I updated a couple of the links such as the video tutorial and download link. Make sure to tell me if you have any problems with anything or complete any game (I'd like to see it).

    Thanks

  • Synaptop is free, the API is free, subscribing is free. But rather, "subscriber" might not me the correct term for what they're going at.

In the Synaptop API, the function "onSubscriber" occurs whenever someone you invited to a game joins the game. I have carried the terminology over from the API into the plugin, which is why it appears that way in the plugin.
