  • Hey Construct Community,

    I'm making a 2D combat system and when I added the events that enabled the player to block with a shield while holding down a key, it disabled my attack which uses a 'key is pressed' event. I have no idea how to fix this.

    I've labeled my events with comments, the Block and Attack are at the bottom of the event sheet.

    But how do I remove the black borders in my game? I changed the window size and the layout size but it still remains.

  • I was flipping through my latest GameInformer magazine (the #1 video game magazine in the world) and in the reviews section the Construct 2 made game "Our Darker Purpose" was reviewed right next to the new The Last of Us DLC! That is an amazingly impressive feat!

  • I've tried lowering the Gravity and Max Fall Speed values when colliding with a vertical wall, but I can't figure out how to jump again once the player is falling against the wall.

    Using the platform behavior, how would I make a walljump mechanic like in Super Meat Boy?

  • I've used the System action "Pick nth instance" to solve my enemy collision bug, but I can't figure out the expression to select all instances for the action. I really don't want to make 100 separate events for all the different instances of the enemies.

  • That's weird because I used NW on the 15+ computers. I dragged the folder containing the .exe from a USB to each of the desktops and then ran it from there, and the multiplayer worked for a time. I've only used NW in my multiplayer testing endeavors, I didn't realize it wasn't supported.

  • I am working on my very first game. I am planning on doing it a top down shooter hotline miami style gameplay, and a cross between the movie ,"The Raid." So there will be lots of guns, martial arts, and blood. You will go up different hotel floors or apartment complex floors, havent decided on the theme yet.

    Or another theme will be you are a Marine invading a bunker in Afghanistan and are trying to get Osama as you go down further in the bunker there will be suicide bombers and have to break up the terrorist cells and leaders as you progress...I have probably a year to go, but I am excited for this, if it turns out anything like I envision it to be could be cool.

    I love The Raid, just saw the new one and it was freaking awesome!

    It's funny cause no games inspire me anymore. What inspires me are the ideas I have and the picture of how people will feel experiencing it.

    That's how I've been feeling lately. The games that inspired me to enter game development are huge AAA productions that will take years to accumulate the skills, resources, and teams to build games that are like my favorite games. Starting small is the most important rule in any creative field, especially game development. As far as small games go, the great smaller indie games are nothing like the the games I'd make so I have to find inspiration elsewhere.
