  • trying to do this now.. guess it never got added...

  • Ldk sorry to hear about your issues.. I'm making a decent sized game for NWjs as well.. except my target is desktop computers so I don't have the same limitations to think about. Although I have problems with Intel graphics cards.. it will just have to be a requirement in the game's specs to have Nvidia or equivalent.

I'm actually teaching a game design course (for beginners, mostly artists) and we use UE4 (blueprinting).. it's decent, but no matter the engine, you'll always have problems somewhere. I've had MANY students have frame rate issues in UE4... it's all about budgeting!

  • Currently you can't 'manually' pin anything to an object with a movement behaviour without a 1 frame delay.

so are you saying there is no work around?

I haven't tried it yet, and honestly I'm not sure how to test it. Maybe with time scale set to 0.3? would the frame delay show up then?not sure how to get it to show up.. my game is big enough and enough is going on that it happens at certain times on my laptop (HD4400). but how exactly are you testing and seeing this delay?

  • +1 to this! Pinning to a pinned object creates a weird wobble effect on slightly slower computers. I couldn't figure this out for a long time since it does not happen on my dev computer.

  • I use Construct 2 in my university basic game design class.

do you require the students to have a Windows laptop for the course or does your university provide a lab with computers?

    Nope.

    C2 latest

    NWjs 0.13 beta 5

    Ashley's latest Greenworks

    Latest Steam SDK

so which versions of (C2>NWjs>Greenworks>SteamSDK) work for you.. all together? or does anything work at this point?

    So the current setup:

    C2 (v218)

    NWjs 0.13 alpha7

    Greenworks 0.13 (for NW 0.13)

    works?

and by 'works' I mean only on some systems?

  • do you by any chance support PS controllers in your games? or is it all Microsoft compatible controllers?

  • I'm currently teaching Unreal Engine 4/Blueprints at the college level. The course is 3D animation and game design. The students don't have any programming background so fighting with UE4 is so painful, I miss C2 SOO MUCH. There are all Macs in the labs so sadly I can't teach them C2. I asked the site IT if they could dual boot the machines with Window, but no-go.

I think C2 in a game design class is ideal since you don't spend a lot of time fighting with the engine and learning is steep. Just the same as C2 is great in a gamejam, it allows you to do a lot VERY quickly. Just really wish there was a Mac version! but I get it, Mac development is better these days, but still, industry standard for gamedev is Windows. I just somehow have to get the school to realize that!

  • wow.. what a mess.. too many dependencies: C2, Chrome and NWjs

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • can you just make a new version that blows away old saves so that it works going forward? are you just saying there's a problem with saving the "old way"? what is actually crashing on newer versions?

  • I don't have a PS controller to test with currently, so I sent an alpha build of my game to a friend and he installed the 3rd party plugins for his PS controller; the system recognized it but it didn't work at all in the game.

Is there anything we are supposed to do in C2? or is it supposed to be compatible?

    Anyone else having this issue?
