  • Bump.

  • Hey, I forgot to say that I also tried to simply subtract 1 (instead of trying to subtract by setting a width) from the tile object/heart's instance variable... needless to say, that didn't work either. I really need some help with this problem. I've been stuck on this for like a week now:(

  • Hello all, I'm having a problem with my game, the lives left system won't work properly. The game will properly add width to the tiled background (which is a heart, representing the characters lives left) when you beat a level, but for some reason it will not subtract any width from it at all (it just seems to ignore the highlighted code below which tells it to subtract 24 pixels from the tiled object/hearts). Can somebody help me to figure out why this is happening? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

  • Yeah, but, what if I wanted to use the green arrow, instead of the "Trigger once while true"? How would I do that?

  • Hello, I have a simple question. How do I add the green arrow on a condition (which will make the event trigger only once)?

    Thanks all,

  • Bump, please I really need some help.

  • Hi, I can't get the tiled background object to work either:( Two problems, the first is that I don't know how to take a specific width away from the tiled object. For example, see the highlighted section below... I can only "Set width" to 24 pixels, rather than subtract 24 pixels from the tiled object. The second problem is that every time I restart the layout, the size of the tiled object (the heart) reverts back to its original size, which defeats the whole purpose. Can somebody please please show me how to make a "lives left per level/layout" system using a global variable (so that the tiled object size wont refresh every time the layout does)?

  • Thanks, this is very cool:) I try it and get back to you.

  • Sorry, is there a guide or something that can roughly show me how to do that? Do you know of any good tutorials? I think what you're saying, is exactly what I'm looking for:)

  • Hello everybody, I have a question. If I have thirteen objects (like the hearts below) in a family/group, how would I make it so that every time the character's health hits 0, you would lose a heart or life. Then I'd make it so that when there are no hearts/lives left, you would have to start from the first level. Am I going about it the wrong way by put all thirteen hearts/objects into a family/group? How do I do this?

    Thanks,

  • Never mind, thanks a lot The first option (the green Cooldown) works best for me, it's exactly what I was looking for... a cool-down period! For all the help, Thanks again everyone.

  • Hello all. Yeah, this is what what my code looks like right now, but it still drops 2 or 3 books sometimes... basically, the "trigger once" sub-event doesn't seem to be working. What the heck is going on here lol?
