  • First thought is that it sounds like it should be working - can you post a capx (as your rep is not high enough yet you can't post a link but it you put your file into something like dropbox and provide the address after the we can get to it that way)

  • Something like this ?

    simple timer for bullet delay

  • Try using a timer instead of wait.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • first idea

  • spongehammer - I look forward to seeing that, but I hope it is going to be easier than the original as I was rubbish at it ! <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Not tested.

Firstly do you need to use physics just to rotate your ship - cant you just rotate (sprite) towards mouse position ?

If physics is the way to go I suggest you look at dampening the sprites rotational angle (physics angular dampening ?)

Using anglelerp(ships angle, required angle,0.5)*multiplier to give your required torque towards angle(self.x,self.y,mouse.x,mouse.y) might help ?

  • Could you post the side animations for these 2d characters (watermarked in some way ?) please ?

  • Yes - there should be something like set effect active/inactive and you can also alter the effect amounts (depending on the effect)

  • Have a look at LittleStain reply (post 2 ?) in this thread as I think

    it's what you are after.

edit - change the blend mode on the yellow "flag" to destination in.

edit 2 - this blend uses alpha not white/dark, does that matter ?

  • I have just started working (well playing around with) on something like this after being inspired by AndyKayJah in this thread - see the link in about the 5th post down to his .de website. This is easily one of the best looking games I've seen made with construct 2.

Along this style of games - do you remember "Thrust" that was on the Acorn Electron back in the 80s (and probably others machines) - very similar gameplay with the added problem that the items picked up were suspended under your craft on a "rope" (tractor beam ?) which would swing about and drag you in different directions because of momentum ?

  • OK - maybe this needs reporting as a bug then ?

But - I've just tried a very quick test: I started with the windows 8 game template that comes with construct 2, added two sound files from the free bundle (an .ogg and a .wav) and exported to windows 8 (and also to windows 8 phone) both exported folders contain media sub-folders and in each media folder is only the .wav files (no ogg).

So maybe a little more research into sound formats is required ?

edit - I obviously type very slowly ! (but in my defence I was checking things as I went along)
