  • Hi hi,

Maybe I didn't understand something, but when I tried to play it there was nobody to fight and nowhere to go. Additionally the sound was with errors perhaps as explained above by NN81.

So, sorry I didn't get the game :S

  • Hi Siva2D,

I enjoyed playing your game (Shoggoth Run). I liked the darkness aspect of it and the light/shadows. I thought the monster is going to just run straight but then he tried to hit me with his tongue which was cool.

If this is your first game that's really an amazing performance for a first game.

I have 1 question and 1 comment for you:

    1) Would you be interested / would it be OK to publish your game on my DolyGames gaming portal?

    2) I'd be happy to check and publish any future game you make on my portal.

    1 point of feedback:

I'd prefer to have a choice of controls. Some players enjoy WASD for example, but it's also quite easy to allow Arrow Keys. I played with 1 hand, but I'd prefer to play with 2 (1 to move 1 to shoot).

    Best of luck,

    COSMOS

  • Hi, probably a noob question but gotta learn somehow

I bought some game templates from the Scirra Store. They are templates, so not complete games. The menu screen graphics say template, etc.

So in order to make them into complete games I need to add a bunch of stuff like levels, various logics, graphics, etc. but I read in the Store License text that I don't receive ownership of my purchase, but only permission to use it, if I understood that correctly... so how do I use this exactly then? It's currently called Template, so it does not even have a name of a game. I then must give it a name, let's say My XYZ Game but that would indicate that I am taking ownership of the game while I am not allowed to do that?

    Thanks in advance

  • thank you drop2000, I didn't even know there are a bunch of engines, i just used Events with whatever was the default setting, so i will give it a shot and see if something is different

otherwise does each engine have it's own strength in some area? I mean how do you select an engine for your project?

  • Hi, I have created an angry-birds-like game recently using PHYSICS and it runs fine when testing on the computer and tablet, but when I test it using a fast Android 7 Moto G+ smart phone then the game is very clearly lagging and is not smooth running even on the most simple 1st level.

The game itself is not super complex and has minimal elements, for example there is only 1 box type and nothing crazy is happening physics-wise - just basic collision only during release. But it lags even during the camera span when only minor physics are happening.

Here is the link to the game if you want to test play / verify the lagginess: https://dolygames.com/angry-hillary/

My other non-physics games do not lag at all on that same smart phone.

So as the title says "How do I remove the smart phone lag from a physics game?"

or do all C2 physics games lag?

    Thanks in advance

  • I believe he's talking about an actual, physical, object he wants to be detected through the actual image capture of an actual camera. Not the game camera, not a sprite, virtual, object.

Oh - that's totally next level stuff for me

I didn't even know we can do stuff like that in C2

  • Hi, you don't have to detect a color to do what you want. You can simply detect a specific object which happens to be red. There are several ways to accomplish this:

    • If the red object is an independent object it can be simply detected by its name
    • If the red object is a clone of an existing object you can give it an instance variable Red = 1, Red = 0 for other objects

Next for the detection area, if it is the entire area there is a "is visible" feature that you can use and/or right click on that after adding and click Reverse which then means "is not visible".

Another way is to detect using the distance from the camera object. So if it is within say 300 pixels then you consider it detected. A simple distance formula should easily work for this.

    Best of luck,

  • I only had one issue. Unfortunately, it's a pretty big issue - you can't see your target beyond the first trump (in level 3 you can't even see the first Trump, so you're mostly shooting blind. If you can fix that, I think you're good to go - well done.

    Heya,

That is intended, before every shot the camera spans from the right side showing the whole level and the player must then estimate the strength and angle of the shot. If failed - can always try again. The levels get bigger and harder as you progress.

That said I am going to note down your feedback and if more people mention that as a possible issue I will definitely consider a change in design.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

I played it, died on Hyper Space as it was way to fast for me to react to.

Feedback? here are a couple of ideas:

    • maybe the game area could be bigger to allow more reaction time
    • maybe instead of a huge speed increase on Hyper Space speed can be increased by a smaller amount each level

    Cheers,
