At this rate, I'd advise everyone who is against the Construct 3 model to begin learning a programming language. That's the only way to get a full featured game engine without paying a subscription model or anything for that matter a few would be, Monogame(C#), Cocos2d(c++ or javascript), Phaser(Javascript), Love2d(Lua), SFML(c++ and many other language bindings) or you could make your own game engine by combining a number of different tools to make a custom game engine

  • You have to purchase either your own physical or virtual server and install their server software on it.

I know that,But thiers a problem with connecting to it via construct,i ran the test runs that come with the server and they work out,but whenever i try and connect from within construct it dosent work

Penelope made over 300,000$ before the WiiU port, you start to pay 5% per quarter if you make over 3,000$, So yea, They would have hit the threshold to start paying

But at least I want to state why subscriptions suck for game development - especially for freelancers and indie devs. I think your claim of not locking developers out is just misleading- developers develop, they wont have much use in just opening a project they worked on if they cant edit it.

    Thank you. My thoughts exactly.

I'm afraid to post things like that because my posts will seem very emotional as many others' do and I don't want to be banned. But I hardly come here anymore. Only to see if Ashley and team have changed their ideas. And they won't.

But the reason we get so emotional is that... well, most of us have an emotional bond to Construct 1, 2 and Scirra. And Scirra is/was a great company. I don't know what happened to make them change their minds. Subscriptions suck for indie games dev. Ditto. This is fact. The competition - and we're talking about Unreal, Unity, CryEngine, GMStudio, etc. - understands that. But that's Scirra's decision. And I must respect it because because it's a wonderful company that always was very close to the community.

    Peace everybody.

You do have to technically pay a subscription model with UE4 and Unity, But at least with their models they don't start taking money until you make money, so the amount they take is low in comparison to taking money without you even starting something

  • I will definitely try out Photon, thanks. Do you guys know if they charge for usage of the plugin, or just their servers?

Just the servers, But the free tier allows up to 20 concurrent users and 500 messages per second if you are using their cloud server, If you get the onpremise free server, you are allowed to have unlimited messages and 100 concurrent users and 40,000 monthly actives

    Monthly Active Users (MAU)

We assume, as rule of thumb and based on our experience, 1 CCU to match 20 daily active users (DAU).	Each DAU translates to 20 monthly actives (MAU).[/code:2p73upyv]

    >

Or just stick with C2 which you can continue to use for free if youve already paid for it?

The problem is mainly that C2 games break overtime due to browser compatiblity isssues,construct2 games on newgrounds and whatnot just instantly freeze nowadays,So with scirra gradually phasing out development on c2 to work on c3,c2 will become useless
