Thank you for this!
While this doesn't answer my immediate goals of researching sound and music options in a game, it definitely gives me a lot to be mindful of. I'll be referring to this later on during my project.
Worried? GUYS (and gals)!!! We CARE about you! I know I certainly do. Please rest and relax and do you time and family time and dance the happy-happy-joy-joy dance ("Perfect Strangers"...American sit-com. 1990s. Very funny.) We'll be here ready when you are ready.
I'm very pleased that my tutorial helped you out!
Looking back, there are some easier ways to go about this - namely by using the choose( ) action (something I didn't learn about until much later after writing this).
Choose( ) works basically like this:
[event] : action - choose (option 1, option 2, ... option x). So you can actually specify a specific number of options that are randomly selected from. In hindsight, I could have just told it to do choose(animation 1, animation 2, animation 3) and it would have been so much simpler. The Array wouldn't have been necessary.
I hope it all works out for you!
PERFECT! Because I've been working on copying a lot of images directly from the browser to the animation editor!
ACTION comments?! This could be the single greatest update EVER!!! (Yes, I exaggerate, but am I WRONG? I THINK NOT!!)
And, if I understood correctly, downloading the web version as an app to the desktop overwrites the previous version is a God-send!
Although I'm happily a paying subscriber, I love that you also went ahead and added something more for the free version, too. You gotta make your money to keep things growing, but offering something more to those who cannot or have not yet decided to subscribe really shows me that you care about everyone who's trying to enjoy game making. More reasons why I believe in Construct. #ScirraBrosForLife
UPDATES!! YAY!!! It's CHRISTMAS!!! ... In April??
*shrugs* WHO CARES?! UPDATES!! :D
Functions continue to be the bane of my C2/C3 experience, but this could REALLY help me out a lot. THANK YOU!
And if you could SOMEHOW - I wish I knew how to articulate what I'm thinking - may raycasting more accessible throughout the editor, that would be amazing! Like, to be able to calculate a raycast position in a similar way you can calcuate distance between objects or the angle between objects. (I'll see about writing up an idea post on the idea suggestion site.)
*throws hands up in the air like I'm on a roller coaster* WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! :D
YAY FOR HAPPY ACCIDENTS!
GOT IT. Thank you for the confirmation. I actually got the Twitter notification from GGJ, themselves, with that same info earlier. I appreciate the help!
Laura_D - How are we to sign up with the GGJ site? I'm not sure I understand. I signed up for an account with the GGJ site, but how do we register specifically for THIS game jam?
AMAZING set up updates and fixes! My current game, The Getaway, is going to be using TONS of sprites as it's set in a large cityscape. So max spreadsheet size options will help greatly.
I am SO doing this. My roommates and I are game.
So, to clarify, does this mean that we can reference an object instance that does not yet exist in any layout and not create an error? Or does it simply mean that we can CREATE such an instance that isn't in any layout? ...actions and conditions to follow, of course.
